sorry soxfan. I just think this deserves its own thread. Chipper thought he was hurt and Schill didnt deny it

and now EEI is reporting that he is going to Boston to get his arm looked at. Also, it sounds like Johnny Lester may be a few weeks away since he was just upped to 75 pitches on his count. This will be an interesting dilemma to see play out.

EEI reported this afternoon that Curt Schilling is headed back to Boston to undergo what the team is calling a "precautionary" MRI on his right arm.

The news comes after Schilling was shelled in his last 2 outings after pitching a near no-hitter in Oakland. Schilling's velocity was noticeably lacking on Monday in Atlanta with his fastball topping out in the high 80s.

WEEI is reporting that Curt Schilling was sent back to Boston on Tuesday afternoon to be checked out by the medical staff.

A precautionary MRI is likely. Schilling has avoided arm troubles for several years. This probably isn't anything major, but it's smart of the Red Sox to be sure. If Schilling needs to go on the DL, it's likely that Jon Lester will get the chance to replace him in the rotation. The left-hander is worth picking up in any AL-only leagues in which he's available. Curt is on EEI right now and said his MRI results came back normal. He said he does have a bit of discomfort and said it's just a bit of tendonitis. He also got a cortizone shot yesterday

here's an idea....theres an off-day tomorrow, why not skip schilling's spot in the rotation? Peavy is pitching sunday for SD, at this point i would rather have a healthy Beckett pitch against one of the ace's of the NL rather than a faltering ageing former ace

Ya giving Schilling an extra few days off might be the best thing for him. Even if we had to bring up Gabbard or pitch Snyder for a spot start wouldn't be too bad.

This could open up the door for Lester if Schillings shoulder continues to bother him. Also, this could hurt Curt's chances of resigning next year if his shoulder becomes a concern for the rest of the season.

At this point I don't see Schilling being a Red Sox in 2008, unless he recovers and becomes a consistent pitcher again. I would like to see a rotation of Beckett, DiceK, Lester, Wake, Buchholz or a big FA like Zambrano.

His chances are already hurt. I don't see Schilling coming back next year based off of what I've already seen from him. You don't spend $13M on a back-of-the-rotation guy. $13M could get us Mark Buehrle, who's much more consistent.

Mark suggested that since we have an off day tomorrow we just skip Schilling's start and pencil in Josh Beckett for Sunday's game. He will have his normal amount of rest and should be more than ready to go. Hell, he only pitched six innings last night so he shouldn't be fatigued. Besides, we are facing Jake Peavy on Sunday; we don't need a Gabbard or a Hansack pitching in what would amount to a throwaway game if they are on the mound. Beckett vs Peavy on Sunday is the best way to go.

Curt Schilling (shoulder) won't pitch Sunday as scheduled, the Red Sox confirmed. Josh Beckett and Julian Tavarez will each be moved up in the rotation one day.

The Red Sox have Thursday off, so Beckett will go Sunday and Julian Tavarez will pitch Monday on normal rest. The Red Sox are listing Tuesday's starter as TBA. It would be Jon Lester's scheduled day to pitch.

That would be frigin amazing if he pitched that day. He'd be back near his home in Washington.

ATLANTA -- The Red Sox just announced the Curt Schilling will head to the 15-day disabled list.

More news on this matter coming soon.

putting Schilling on the 15-day makes sense, he would've had a 9 day rest between starts if indeed he missed Sunday so why not just open up a roster spot
