He didn't get tossed for arguing, he got tossed for tossing his bat and helmet on the field

Way to keep your cool papi...thanks for getting kicked out when our offense is dead!

I saw the replay, he didnt toss out his helmet and bat. As he was walking to the dugout, like mere 5 feet away, he slammed his helmet and bat down. It wasnt thrown in the direction of any player or umpire

This guy argues every pitch he doesn't like. It is bound to happen eventually. Furthermore, if he had just walked quietly back to the dugout nobody would have cared where he dropped his helmet. Instead he stood there and barked at the ump for a minute as if daring him to throw him out of HIS house. f***ing stupid. It's like getting a penalty in hockey or needlessly fouling someone in basketball. It is a mental mistake that cannot be excused at this level of baseball.

If I was the ump I would have tossed him as soon as he started questioning my call. That's ********. he does it all the time and he's bound to get tossed. Umps don't like to be shown up and that's what happens when you do. they look for the smallest thing and will hurt you because of it.

After arguing for 10 minutes.

f***ing stupid.

f***ing amateuish. At least he didn't throw his bats at the ump like he did a few years ago. That wasn't even an out worth arguing over. Its the first f***ing inning. At least get 3 ABs in and be losing or winning by a lot if you're going to get tossed over nothing.

Now papi can go hit the showers and enjoy what will essentially be a night off

I never said it was. I said he got tossed for tossing his bat and helmet on the field (which he did) and not for arguing the call. He didn't throw it at anyone, but tossing onto the field is what got him ejected

He got tossed for arguing the call AND tossing his helmet on the field. Without both he's still in this game.

Well looks like the ump is going to jack us all night, because that pitch (strike 3) to deuce was 4 inches off the plate....thanks tizzle

LOWELL. STFU. THAT WAS STRIKE 3. DONT f***ING ARGUE AND GET THROWN OUT. JESUS CHRIST.

That wasn't a strike. It was outside by about 5 inches but it was a nasty curveball.

It is true that the sox need consistent umpiring for their style of play to be effective. Especially since recently their style of play has been watching pitches to load the bases then weakly making outs to retire the side.

I disagree....if he didn't argue the call and then tossed his crap on the field, he still would have gotten tossed.

Yeah, if he had actually tossed it. Of course, the ump woul dhave had no reason to even watch him walk off the field if he wasn't sulking and yelling the entire way off. These umps have tolerance for arguing, just not for temper tantrumms.

It was notreally a big argument or scene caused by Ortiz. It's just a case of an egotistical umpire exerting his authority. The people that paid hundreds of dollars to go to the game just got robbed of seeing one of the games greats by an ump with a quick trigger. What an idiot!
