From the t.v. it seemed he got the hero's welcome he deserved. It wasn't just The Steal. The thing about Roberts that I remember from that whole season is that he took his role w/ a lot grace. Unlike a certain SS (and Jay Payton) who shall remain nameless and who people remember w/ revisionist history. He just got it. Ya get it or ya don't. Lot's of class.

 

Of course, I needed a heart and liver transplant (emphasis on the liver transplant) after that series...but the memories are priceless. Except, of course. for the million dollar liver transplant.

 

Tal, thanks for the update. The started at 4:05 out here on the West Coast so I was a little late tuning in, you might say. I'm not sure if you meant the transplants litrerally or figurately, but I know I got a bad case of sciatica two days after the World Series and was home f or six-and-a-half weeks hardly unable to walk. Took my almost two months to be able to got out and celebrate the Red Sox WS Title.

I was really happy to see Dave get a standing O. He is an extremely classy guy and definitely deserved it. I remember when the Dodgers traded him to the Sox and being angry at how unceremoniously he had been dumped out, basically being traded for nothing (Henri Stanley anyone?). Worked out for him though.

I will never, ever forget him. Without that steal the Yankees probably have 27 championships right now.
