Will you consider him to be the real single season HR record holder? I remember this came up last year when Pujols was absolutely filthy in April. I think ARod has a decent chance to do it considering the disgusting pace he's been on.

As much as I hate A-Rod, I hate Bonds MORE. So I think 62 should be the limit. Bonds's stats should be erased. And if they make it 73, then if A-Rod makes it to 62 I'll personally admit he broke the true record. Because Bonds shouldn't even be playing.

...you're basing the record out of your hate for Bonds.

It's 73.

No, on the count he used steroids.

If David Ortiz were to have set a record, and come to find out at the time he did it he was juicing, I'd say erase that too. I hate Bonds because he juiced. I hate A-Rod because he's A-Rod, but I'd rather someone who didn't juice hold the record, 62.

I say it's 62. Bonds broke the law to get his record, Rodriguez is apparently doing it on sheer talent. The fact that he's a Yankee really doesn't play into my thought process. He's doing it clean, and if it wasn't for some guys cheating, 62 would be the new record. I give it to Rodriguez.

How did they cheat? Taking steroids wasn't against the rules.

Yeah, they were. You just couldn't be punished for taking them.

Bonds did admit to using steriods, (unknowingly) but he never has failed an MLB test. Until he does that, he is still the single season HR king.

Points valid either way, in my opinion. Taking away his record would be a form of punishment.

I think the real record holder is still Maris. Taking the record away from the cheaters is just one thing they should do to help discourage cheating.

If you hit a homer with a corked bat, it's disallowed and you are called out. I don't see much difference.

I am not a Bonds hater, but come on guys. His fringing skull grew. His hat size changed. There is no way to prove that he did drugs the year he set the record, no matter what people say about Bonds, but there is little doubt in the forum of public opinion.

If Maris had an asterisk next to his game due to the season expanding to 162 games, it's only fair to have an asterisk next to Bonds, Mac, and Sammy. Maris didn't have a choice, baseball expanded their season. These guys knowingly expanded their bodies.

I'd do the same for Papi or Manny if they got close. Anything to have Bonds out of the top spot.

If A-Rod can go from now until he breaks 73 homers without being a whiney little princess, I'll tip my hat to him and forgive him for the past, and have a little more respect for him, for just playing the game.

I have no reason to think that A-Rod isn't taking HGH. Until there is a definitive test or way or knowing I am suspicious of everyone who is putting up numbers that haven't been seen before, or guys who look super-humanly lage.

That said, A-rod also has a sweet, sweet stroke and hits the ball hard at all times.

Also, steroids ARE cheating. It doesn't matter if it is in the rules or not. That is a stupidly high standard to have for something being valid or not, as it would keep every new form of cheating legal until it is discovered and defined; thus taking any responsibility away from the person cheating and putting it all on the rule makers. These guys don't question whether or not they are cheating. They knew they were cheating, that's why they hid what they did for the most part.
