So, for the Texas series, we have this:

Matsuzaka

Wakefield

Tavarez

Then for Cleveland, I'm assuming it's this:

Schilling

Beckett

Matsuzaka

Now, it's interesting because we have an off-day on Thursday the 31st.

Do we skip Tavarez's start and go:

Wakefield

Schilling

Beckett

Or should we just go

Wakefield

Tavarez

Schilling

Like we just did?

I personally would like to see:

Wakefield

Tavarez

Beckett

But that would never, ever, EVER happen (I say this because I'm so uneased by Schilling's suckiness this month, and we really need this series).

However, part of me thinks that we should get a spot-starter in against Cleveland to push Matsuzaka's start to Friday against the Yankees, then put Wakefield's start on Saturday with Tavarez bringing up the rear. I really would rather see Tavarez pitching in this series than Schilling...I never thought I would ever say that.

Anyway, pull up a schedule and think about it for a few minutes. What do you think the Red Sox should/will do?

This really is an interesting topic. I think skipping Schill would be a bad idea because he may not like it and he is a very outspoken person. Tavarez has dominated the Yanks this season, so I do not see him being left behind. The only one who i think they would play around with is Wakefeild, but the only way to do that is to have him on 4 days rest and push Dice-K, or have Wakefeild completely miss the series and have quite a rest.

I guess it's hard to determine exactly who is pitching until we know the pitching matchups. I believe that we will go Wake, JT, Schill.

I'd keep it as is...Tavarez has pitched really well against the Yanks this year, Wake has (besides the other day) pitched well against the Yanks historically, and I feel like Schill's situation is going to be huge. He'll be looking to avenge last night's start. Not that Curt isn't a competitive guy all the time, but when he has something to prove, something fueling his fire, so to speak, he's usually nasty. I like it where it is.

If anything I would try to make it Dice man, Tavarez, Beckett in light of how bad Schill is, and considering how well the yankees have been hitting wakefield. If we take 2/3 in the june series, this is a one team race the rest of the way.

leaving Tavarez in is a dangerous venture. The yankees hit righties well, yet havent figured him out to this point. 2 shots at him, 2 shots failed, BUT we did hit the ball pretty hard off of him in his last start, just never strung anything together. Banking on him again could be a dangerous proposition, especially in Fenway.

Very good possibility that Clemens makes his debut against Schilling on June 3rd.

id rather them go with Wake/Tavarez, Schilling, Beckett

I think you win the award for longest time in between posts as of late. Welcome back, I hope you stick around this time!

I got twenty bucks riding on neither pitcher making it out of the 4th inning and us being treated to a Long-reliever Special. (Kyle Snyder FTW!)

Friday: Wang vs. Wakefield

Saturday: Mussina vs. Schilling

Sunday: Pettitte vs. Beckett

They're skipping Tavarez but he will pitch Monday against the A's. After the most recent outings, I think this is probably what they should do. With the Yankees the way they are, a sweep is obviously a huge possibility. Especially when taking into consideration how our pitching seems to have gotten back on track.

who cares. My grandmother can go up there and beat the yankees.

So could mine and unfortunately, she's deceased (21 years now....:( )

We'll have Wake, Schill and Beckett per The Globe but ESPN.com shows Wake, Tavarez & Schill......

The Globe advises Tavarez will pitch Monday v. Oakland.

As far out in the standings as the Yankees are, I would still really would like to see us take two of three (or sweep). As poorly as we played against New York last year, I think it is important to take this years season series. At least for more bragging rights.

I think the answer should be based on matchups. Tavarez has been pitching good, but I would not put him up against Wang. It would be interesting to see how Kyle Snyder fares against him. I would love to see a Schilling / Pettitte rematch. He was great against the Guardians.

Why shouldnt JT face Wang? Hes had to face Santanna and Halladay 2 times each this year and if im not mistaken he has a winning record in those outings....

Soft tossing LH VS The Sox= LH pitcher performing like a Cy Young contender...

Especially if he plays for the Devil Rays.

I like anybody against the Yankees really. Anybody can beat them and with bush league A-Rod out there for them, someone needs to bean that guy.

and people stop with the beaning arod crap , a sweep is what we should be looking for , it would for sure end the chance for the yanks winning the east
