Probably the greatest aspect of baseball has to be the park in which it is played. From the old wooden ballparks such as the Huntington Grounds to the new retro old look like the new Busch Stadium, ballparks have always keep the game of baseball alive. So what's your favorite ballpark? Past or present, or both.

My all time favorite ballpark is Ebbets Field. I just love it. It had that awesome old style awe which many parks have lost today. Sad shame it was demolished, I would have wanted to go see it.

In terms of my favorite ballpark it would probably be Fenway.

However these are parks I'd like to watch a game in at some point:

Baltimore (Camden Yards)

Seattle (Safeco)

Cleveland (Jacobs Field)

San Fran (AT&T Park)

Pittsburgh (PNC Park)

And these are the parks I consider to be absolute shitholes:

Shea

Minnesota (Metrodome)

Tampa Bay (Tropicana Field)

Oakland (McAfee Coliseum)

Out of the ones I've been to, I'd have to say my favorites are

Fenway Park

Coors Field

Safeco Field

Citzen's Bank Ballpark in Philly

Camden Yards

AT&T Park

Yankee Stadium

I'm going to a game at wrigley this summer and I'm expecting that park to be really nice.

Also, PNC Park in Pittsburgh looks sick.

Fenway is obviously the best. I enjoy Camden Yards also.

The top parks on my to do list are Wrigley and what is currently known as AT&T Park.

I may get crucified for this, but Tropicana Field is not as bad as some would lead you to believe.

I felt the same way about Olympic Stadium in Montreal. Everyone talked s*** about it, saying that it was the biggest dump in baseball but I actually thought it was a pretty cool stadium. The structure of it was ill from the outside and it was actually a pretty comfortable place to watch a game if you had seats close to the field.

I'd have to agree with Ted Williams, I'd take Fenway, Green Monster and all and throw it in the River Charles and build a whole new park in it's place.

That's not to say I don't like it. It's a beautiful park. But it's a pitcher's worst nightmare. An ordinary double into leftfield in another park is a solo homer at Fenway because of the Green Monster. Not to mention "Williamsburg" for the lefties.

I have to say you have obviously never been there, or are just too stupid to realize what you saw when you were there. :thumbdown

First you say that parks have lost the "old style awe" and that you love that kind of ballpark...but then you suggest throwing Fenway park (one of the oldest parks and also one of the greatest places to watch a game) in the Charles River and building a new park... :dunno: .

Ive been to 3 parks and probaly rank them:

Fenway

Wrigley

Metrodome

With the dome being way down. I really love Fenway but Im all in favor for a new ballpark. If they made a park that had the same dimensions as Fenway and looked similar except with all the new modern luxuries, better seats, better views, it would be amazing.

The Monster takes away as many, if not more, home runs than it does give. Line drives that bang off the Wall would be out in a lot of other parks.

Agreed...Skydome/Rogers Centre make the Trop look like a baseball cathedral. (I guess it's not fair for me to say this, because I was in Toronto in 8th grade, so that's close to 10 years ago, but it was an absolute dump when I was there. Maybe they've done some improvements?) But the thing is, being in close proximity to Tampa (St. Pete, actually) gave me the opportunity to see the Sox for $9...can't beat that, so I'm kind of biased.

The Jake is a great place to watch a game...I really enjoyed it there. It's very similar to Oriole Park IMO; I actually think they have something in common in architecture/design/etc. I went to the Vet when it existed and that place was a huuuuge hole. If you're a real baseball fan, you'll like Yankee Stadium regardless of where your team loyalty/affiliation is. Coors Field, I thought, was a real nice place to see a game. I'd say of all places I've been, my list is as follows:

1.) Fenway Park - Obvious reasons

2.) Yankee Stadium - Crazy historic charm, attainable tickets

3.) Jacobs Field - The Jake and Oriole Park could actually be a tie, but I like the Cleveland as a city better than Baltimore.

4.) Oriole Park - See above

5.) Coors Field - Denver is a great city...great weather. Awesome place to see a game.

6.) Shea Stadium - It's a hole, and so is Flushing, but it's not as bad as some.

7.) Tropicana Field - I mean, there's an Outback and a Checkers right INSIDE the stadium...can you beat that?

8.) Rogers Centre - Sucks. Actually Skydome sucks. But you know what I mean.

I really want to get to Wrigley and PNC Park in Pittsburgh; I've heard it's gorgeous there.

I'll make my rankings of parks I have been to:

Fenway Park-A classic

Wrigley Field-Another classic-love the ivy. It's a really pure baseball enviornment

Yankee Stadium-Intense. Gives me chills. Love Monument Park.

Camden Yards-Nice classic feeling even though it's not old. I like the warehouse.

Coors Field-Beautiful background, people are good

Safeco Field-From my memories it was a very clean place.

Turner Field-Very friendly, albeit wicked hot.

Comiskey Park (Or whatever it is now-the new CWS park)-That place got loud. The people were kind of *******s too.

Shea Stadium-Dump.

I know it might make me the evil to say this but after seeing other parks I think Fenway is terrible. The concourses, seat size and sightlines are absolutely terrible. I'd love to see a new park in Boston soon. The ones I've been to in order of best

1. Citizens Bank Park in Philly- This place is great in every way. Wide concourses, great seat comfort, incredible grub, kids play areas and parking with TAILGATING.

2. Camden Yards- Right behind philly minus the great parking situation.

3. Wrigley Field- Awesome place to watch a game although the bleachers will put your rear to sleep. The area around the ballpark is absolutely incredible. It really is baseball at its purest forms.

4. Rogers Centre- I went in April and it improved a ton since my first trip in 2000. They pride themselves on being fan friendly and went well beyond the means to the point I wrote a letter thanking the employees for a great experience. Good sightlines but I just don't like watching a game in domes.

5. Yankees Stadium- It was nice for sightlines but the neighborhood sucks and it's very cheesy. I don't think they celebrate the pre JFK presidency greatness anywhere but in monument park.

6. The Vet- A dump, this place sucked.

Wrigley is way overrated. The only reason why it's on most peoples' lists is because of the fact it's the world's largest beer garden. There is a better ballpark that is several CTA Red Line stops south. You have much less of a risk of stepping in urine, feces or vomit at US Cellular Field. The team that plays there is better too.

I love Wrigley, but what the f*** is up with the fake bird noises?

Funny' date=' but really, when I went there I heard bird noises coming from a speaker in the upper deck.[/quote']I didn't know they did that, but then I haven't been there in several years. I've had several opportunities but I refuse to set foot in that dump.

Did you read all of it? I said Fenway is a beautiful park. I love it's looks, but it's not my favorite based on the hitter/pitcher design. Fenway DOES have the oldstyle awe. But I don't think I'd enjoy playing in it game wise.

Because I'd never want to PLAY in it as a ball player. I'd love to go watch the Sox play there now, yes. And I never said it's ugly, but if I wanted to play in Boston, I wouldn't want the Green Monster there and Williamsburg to spoil any chances at good plays.

There are plenty of good plays. I don't think the monster detracts from the Fenway pleasure.

I love the aura of Fenway, and I still fondly remember going there when I was 7 and seeing the place for the first time...back in the days of Yaz, Reggie Smith, Jim Lonborg, Rico, etc. That said:

Fenway is a s*** hole. If they were building a new park in Boston I'd want to be the one to push the button that starts Fenway's implosion.

Seats were made for 1918-sized people...they don't work anymore.

Sight lines suck...i.e. right field grandstand faces centerfield...not smart design.

Too small, tix are hard to come by.

Parking is a joke.

Posted

nowhere in baseball can you get closer than you can in fenway

of course they now pimp out every single inch of the building and surrounding acreage so its a s*** fight every time you walk in there.

as rician said, the seats are built for 1912 asses of which i havent got

if me and 3 of my chunky friends go in we need 5 seats

if me and 1 of my big friends go in together we take turns sitting sideways

it sucks and it blows hard

ive told anyone who will listen that its cheaper for me to buy 4 sox yanks tix in the bronx, drive to ny,get a room in manahatten and eat out than it is for me to try and get 4 for the yanks in the fens,if you dont believe me try it yourself

as head of household its f***ing sickening trying to take the entire tribe into fenway

anyways

ive got 2 for tonite in section 30,row e,fantastic seats and it will be my 9 year old daughters 1st visit to fenway.

i'll be nose to nose with the detroit dugout and within finger jamming distance of kelly the ballgirl,100.00 face value and again, you cant get closer to the action in any other ballpark in america

fenway is my favorite for the close action

if youre in the bad seats you can at least watch a gang fight over in jamaica plain

camden is the premier new park,i love eutaw street and its charisma

yankee stadium is huge but for all the talk about home field advantage it isnt what they say it is,in fact,if youre there on the weekend for a sox game you'll feel right at home

shea is the pitts, really it sucks

the marlins play in the old joe robbie stadium, its disgraceful

i like the new angels park with all the mountains and running water, very pretty
