Are you serious? Our rotation will be better if DiceK can live up to his billing. I would rather have Schill Beckett and Wake more than Clemens right now. What has changed since Clemens posted a 3.90 Era in 03? 4 years of age. Clemens is going to probably post a 4.00 ERA in the AL east. Which don't get me wrong will improve their chances' date=' but it by no means makes them the AL east favorites.[/quote']

Uh, look, I like our starting rotation better as well, but you guys are acting like this move doesn't make them better. It takes f***ing Kei Igawa out of the rotation and replaces him with Roger Clemens. Their rotation may not be dominant, but it'll do the job. And with the lineup they have, the run support will make up for average outings. I can't believe I'm hearing that the Red Sox have a better shot at a world series than the Yankees. The Yankees don't even have everyone healthy again.

I hope I'm wrong, I'm really do. I just feel that I'm being more realistic than optimistic.

Good. f*** 'em. I hope they stay healthy the rest of the year. That way if we beat them there are no excuses. And, I like our chances. This is a good ball club, and I think injuries are the only thing that will hold it back.

He's been amazing the last 3 years?

I don't think Clemens will be as good as he was with Houston, but he will be a substantial upgrade over Darrell Rasner, Kei Igawa, and Matt DeSalvo.

True, but he only averaged 6 innings a start, that can only go down when he faces the deeper lineups of the AL.

Less than the 103 million you paid for Matsuzaka.

Wang, Clemens, Pettitte, Mussina, Hughes...

I guess George figured that instead of getting a good manager, he would change his roster and give the manager the five solid starters that make him a manager of the year candidate, lol.

Maybe the Red Sox still have a shot at the wild card...

No, thats the "possible" rotation until Hughes comes back in 4 to 6 weeks

Wang

Clemens

Pettitte

Mussina

Igawa, 5 years/$46 million for a Triple A starter

Yes the Red Sox from here on out will go 67-67 to finish 86-76

Okay, so assume they gave Rocket $25 million for 4 months of the baseball season (maybe October). He's 44. If you haven't noticed, the Red Sox have Matsuzaka for, let's see, about 6 or 7 times as long as the Yankees will have him? Not to mention that Daisuke is what, 18 years younger? You can't possibly think that this Clemens deal at $25 million is better than Matsuzaka's deal. If you do, you're wearing pinstriped sunglasses.

Speculation......

I know, but it has always seemed strange to me, to same way Bonds hitting homeruns at a more prolific rate after the age of 35 seems strange.

Gom, why can't you see the difference in the $51 million we paid Seibu and Matsuzaka's $52 million contract? The $51M is equivalent to an investment in the Far East. Think of it as adding $51M of upgrades to Fenway Park. It's no different. They basically took the $51M and said "Hmm, let's plant a Red Sox flag in Japan instead of upgrading here at home." There's so much more behind that $51M than you're restricting yourself to see.

I'm in shock; I definitely thought he'd end up in Boston.

I'm glad we didn't. I think Lester can pitch as well as Clemens this year. I think both will post around a 4.25 ERA.

Crap!!! What were the terms of my bet with Jackson? I think it was the user title, not the signature. Anyway, I'm glad it will be over by June 6th-- D-Day.

I am disappointed that we did not get the Rocket. I think we need a #5 guy, and the Rocket would have filled the slot nicely. He'll be the #1 or 2 guy for the Yanks. We'll just have to spank him like we used to right before he left for the NL. Welcome back to baseball, Roger you obnoxious whore.

with each passing day i am more and more disappointed in myself for falling to peer pressure and cheering roger clemens in his "last start" at fenway a couple years ago when he first retired
