He is a rookie in major league baseball. Methinks there are tougher lineups, smaller strike zones that he needs to transition

Next you'll be going back to where you were during ST (starting to act like Igawa could be the better pitcher)

Matsuzaka didn't know any of the hitters other than the famous Japanese guys, nor has he pitched in MLB, or played on an Amercian speaking team, nor played with MLB strikezones, as they are a bit different than in Japan, and he played against weaker lineups with different types of hitters than powerful major-leaguers, and he's only 26. If that doesn't make him a Rookie, then I don't know what the f*** would.

The Japanese league isnt necessarily AAA ball. DMats has been a superstar' date=' unlike a fresh out of AAA rook.[/quote']

No, but it's somewhere between AAA and MLB. Just like other rookies, he has to adjust to the highest level of play. The transition may not be as severe, but it is there.

This isn't to defend RS's point, because what Smoltz and Glavine did are irrelevant, and that is how you should have countered his argument, but instead you went with illogic.

What's the matter tonight, Jacko? You seem more ornery that usual. Heavy flow day?

My point was that not all great starting pitchers are lights out their first go-around in the bigs

Clearly we are all split on our feelings of Dice-K....the fact right now is he sucks

Without question the guy can turn it around....but he has to show it because right now he is going in the wrong direction. You gotta show me.

what happened?

Youk grounded into a DP and as the Seattle second baseman was tagging Ortiz, Ortiz hugged him. very sweet and touching moment but I would've rather Ortiz hit him with a pizza

Anyway Dmat will be fine. He pitched great early on and then ran into some tough outings vs. the Yankees and then obviously tonight. Tonight being the exception hes had great K rates and hasnt displayed any weakness in allowing walks in his career in Japan. He just didnt have it tonight, happens to every pitcher in the league.

same thing with Igawa. Both have a history of control in Japan, but both are missing badly at times over here. Not sure if it is the strike zone, nerves, or the Japanese hitters.
