I've been listening on the radio. I had to pick up my daughter from college. A couple of questions. What was the deal with Dice K walking 3 guys in a row to open the 4th? Did he lose his release point? Was it a meltdown? What was the deal?

He walked ARod and got squeezed terribly, but the next two weren't close.

Add in a couple dink hits, and there you go.

Damn just saw the stat on NESN, Lugo's last HR came 241 ABs prior to him taking Scott "my arm is about to fall off" Proctor deep

Sox players still looking for their first HRs are Dustin Pedroia, Coco Crisp, and Eric Hinske

As excited as I was in anticipation of seeing Paps slam the door on the Yanks tonight, I'm glad it didn't come to it.

I don't want to take away for a single second what Foulke did for us in '04...but does anyone else feel more comfortable with Paps going into the 9th than they ever did with Foulkey? I do...even with the track records that Foulke had. I just love the kid.

Why would you call for new CF'er when Crisp has just started hitting the ball and showing that he still (potentially) has what he had in Cleveland and Pena, be it only one game, showed the EXACT things we've wanted to see from him?

I love the tools that Ellsbury has just like you do, but see no need, if Coco keeps playing like he is, to rush Ellsbury up to the Bigs. Rushing guys up seldom pays off and will, more often than not, retard their development.

Sure if Coco shits the bed and starts hitting .240, then yea, a move might be in order. Or, if Coco gets hurt and Pena is still striking out 15 times a week...but until that happens, I'm happy where we are and giving Jacoby all the time he needs before getting him into the Show.

I don't think the way the O has been playing is entirely out of character...the only thing I see that is absolutley going to change is Manny sucking the house...the other guys are performing better than they have, but not above their capabilities.

Ever see Jacoby play HeadSox? The kid is pure honey. And he is tearing up his league where he is clearly way above the competition he is facing. Rushing him would not be good, I can see your point, but I think this young man is ready. I think he is that good.

Earlier in the week, Michael Kay said on his radio show that if the Yankees got swept at home and started next week 8 games out that Torre might get fired. They should win at least one of the next two, but if they don't, does Torre get sent packing?

Foulke was a very reliable closer but Paps is on a whole other level right now. I'd safely say he's the best closer in the game today. His stuff is just overpowering. You know he's coming at you with the FB and they still can't hit it. and sometimes, he'll get you a filthy slider or splitter to make you look foolish. its a beautiful thing to watch

Seriously, what's not to like about this team?

Dice-K had a disappointing performance, I guess, but he sturck out 7 against the best O in the league and was still able to throw 6 innings.

When will Manny start hitting? Dude's sporting what, a .600 OPS?

Coco/Tek have been absolute black holes in the lineup.

The only people who have really been above average offensively are Drew (who's in the middle of a huge slump) and Lowell.

But goddamn, we're 15-7. The pitching has been excellent, in particular Papelbon, Beckett, Wakefield, and Okajima.

There's no real reason to think this team can't get better. That's an awesome thought.

I have...I've followed him pretty closely, actually. Like I said before, I love what he brings to the table and have no doubt in my mind that he's a staple in our future outfield. As far as right now goes, though...I'm not sold on bringing him up right away. He's still progressing and I see it as more beneficial to him to take the stairs of steady progression rather than attempt to make a huge hurdle into the Big Leagues. If there was a glaring need, then I'd say go for it, but from where I'm looking at things, there's just not.

In this lineup this year, you're going to get production for sure out of Ramirez, Ortiz, Drew, Lugo, Youk, and Lowell. No they're not all going to bat .300 or hit 40 HRs each, but I'm talking solid contributions here. Then you have Tek, who could be a huge asset, but we'll give the benefit of the doubt and say that he's going to be an offensive liability. I have Duddy hitting around .270 by season's end.

My point is, we have the luxury of having a lineup that you can play with and don't need stellar production out of every single spot. Would that be nice? Sure. Is it likely if you're not the Yankees (most times, anyway)? No.

Don't get me wrong...if around deadline time, a deal comes into fruitation that would greatly benefit the Sox that involves dealing Crisp, then I'm not opposed to bringing up Ellsbury. Until something of that sort happens, short of an injury or a TOTAL lack of contribution, I'm in favor of keeping it as it is.

Definitely...hopefully... A nine year old kid could do better behind the wheel of this team than Torre has been doing.

This team needs a spark. Torre can't provide that, but his dismissal just might.
