See' date=' the thing I don't like, is that you are expecting Pena to improve past anything he has ever shown. He has never shown plate discipline or the ability to hit offspeed pitches. Believing that he can improve to do so doesn't mean its going to happen. He hasn't shown that ability yet, so why would he now? The difference, is that Coco has already proved he can be a good hitter. Not a power hitter, but a good hitter for the top of a lineup once he regains himself, which is looking more and more like that may finally happen. The difference is potential vs. what we have already seen. I agree that WMP has the "potential" to be a great power hitter. But he hasn't shown much indication that he can make the improvements to do so. Coco has already shown us that he can be a good hitter and good CF. I'll agree that Coco isn't gold glove in CF, but he is far batter than WMP in CF and can make great plays.[/quote']

He has potential because he has power, is young and its not like he needs ability, just plate discipline, something that can be taught. If he learns that, then there is nothing Coco can do to gain power, other than steroids. He is also cheaper and around for longer. Wily Mo is already a very good power hitter, he just isn't a good everyday hitter because of his plate discipline problems. I really do want to know why you love Coco so much.

I have noticed' date=' using the Yankee fans I personally know, that when their team is down, they kinda slide off the radar...[b']like they'll only be dicks about it when their team is winning[/b].

Or at the beginning of the game before they get behind!

What's the score at this point? I've got 9-4 according to ESPN's gamecast... but then again' date=' according to ESPN's gamecast, Rivera threw 8 balls and 4 strikes to Pedroia who walked in the at bat.[/quote']

11-4

Youk with three RBI's today.

Do we even need a pitcher to throw for the ninth? Or can Wily Mo or Francona or DeMarlo Hale just go out there and chuck baseballs in the general direction of Varitek?

Yankees must really feel like s*** paying all that money to Myers more or less only to get Ortiz out, when he cant seem to do it.

Seriously, shut the f*** up. You've reiterated what you think OVER AND OVER again. Despite whatever is shown to you, you'll believe that Pena is forever fated to strikeout 300 times in 500 AB's.

Doesn't matter that he hit .300 last year, that was an abberation.

Doesn't matter that the fielding metrics have him as a competent CF, that's a lie.

I don't know if he f***ed your dog, or killed your mother, but we all know you hate Wily Mo Pena.

Do you think pedroia will be better in a year and a half? At that point he will be the age that Pena is now.

Pena is young at 25 years old, 3 years younger than Crisp and Youkilis.

I think the "they are both good and I'm glad we have them" argument is the most pursuasive here.

Rivera touched for 4 runs in .1 innings' date=' ERA up to 12.15, ouch[/quote']

Ouch to my fantasy team. Unouch to my soul! All part of my win-win strategy.

I like Coco more because he has more tools and has proven he can hit. Pena just has looked lost at the plate throughout his career. Yes, he had a decent season last year, but that doesn't mean he is that type of player. From what I have seen of him over the years, I am not buying into him. He needs to show me some signs of improvement before I will believe he can consitantly make contact and become a good hitter.

Shame. I sit any Yankee on my fantasy team against the Sox. Karma. You got what you deserved.

Maybe just because Coco had that type of season in 2005 doesn't mean he is that type of player. Neither are great major league every day players at this point. Be happy the Sox have them both to platoon, they complete each other.

Ted, no one is listening because it's a waste of time. You still have yet to prove anything other than your opinion, which is pretty worthless at this time. Babble on.

What Pena really needs is some time in the minors' date=' and that ain't gonna happen. He isn't going to improve enough when he is getting destroyed in the majors.[/quote']

Trial by fire.

I'll settle this argument here and now: They are both average players who have their merits and their weaknesses.

What a cop-out. <_>

Screw that man. Do you not draft yankees on your team out of some rightousneses or what?

I needed a SS, Jeter was there, so I took him. Instead of freaking out that he was a yankee, I thought "if he does well so does my fantasy team, if I suck in fantasy it is largely because the Yankees suck".

If you're interested, I'm in last in my fantasy league. Dead last. Awful. I won last year, but Mariano and BJ Ryan have killed me. As has Pujols.

I have no problem with it though, because the Yankees are blowing as well.
