That's funny, I was going to do that last week, but then mariano got torched so I thought it was good luck to leave him in.

Screw that man. Do you not draft yankees on your team out of some rightousneses or what?

I needed a SS, Jeter was there, so I took him. Instead of freaking out that he was a yankee, I thought "if he does well so does my fantasy team, if I suck in fantasy it is largely because the Yankees suck".

If you're interested, I'm in last in my fantasy league. Dead last. Awful. I won last year, but Mariano and BJ Ryan have killed me. As has Pujols.

I have no problem with it though, because the Yankees are blowing as well.

No, I'm saying drafting Yankees so if they win you can feel good about your fantasy team while still feeling good about the sox winning if your fantasy team is tanking is a cop-out.

I had A-Rod on my team 2 years ago. I felt like I had cheated on the love of my life. :(

I had A-Rod and ended up trading him for Manny at the end of the year when I had a solid lead and needed a good OFr.

You take what you can get when you can get it.

Nice win by the Sox.

I've been listening on the radio. I had to pick up my daughter from college. A couple of questions. What was the deal with Dice K walking 3 guys in a row to open the 4th? Did he lose his release point? Was it a meltdown? What was the deal?

With regard to Rivera, we just paste him now. It's nothing but ropes. When was the last time Mo got lifted in the middle of an inning?

Fine, I'm done arguing about WMP. It's obvious you guys either don't see the HUGE hole in his swing, or don't care to admit it. And believing he will do a 180 and turn into a productive player is wishful thinking. But why argue with people that just don't understand that.

A cop-out? It's not like my having them on my team is going to dictate how they do in real life. s***, if there are players out there who are going to do well I want them on my fantasy team regardless of who they play for. There is very little room for allegiances in fantasy baseball. If one of my other red sox fan friends in the league had Jeter and passed me because of it I would be pissed off. I play to win, what can I say??

Also, I'm the commish and spend too much time organizing it to finish in last place.

No, its that they don't care when this guy is 25 years old and has a career 17.6 AB/HR, or better than Miguel Tejada or Vernon Wells have done, even though both are considerably older.

WMP has a propensity to hit HRs. That's what he's shown at a young age. A big homerun (like last night) is worth more than a few hits here and there, or a SB.

For the record, the Yankees did not experience a rainout. It was more of a feignout. You know, feign like it is raining and then call the game so you can eliminate one bum and rest the pen leading into a series against your rival.[/QUOTe

You're in the East somewhere so you would be more attuned to that that I am Red, but something of that order crossed my mind so they could have Pettitte pitch against us in the opener. Pettitte has done nothing personal to me but for some reason there is something about that guy that just rubs me the wrong way. Ever get that feeling about an opposing player. I had the shakes when Dice K got tagged for those four runs in the fourth which could have made Andy a winner. Thank goodness we came back and stuck him with a three spot in the fifth and stuck him with the loss. I still think one of the reasons the Yankees got him back this season was because of his career record against us.

What give with Rivera? We took it to him again. I wonder if there is something wrong with his arm. It would be just too much to ask that we finally have his number.

Michael Kay is such a homer I can't even stand it...I hate that I have to watch all of these games on Yankee television unless they're on ESPN. It's a sad' date=' sad day when you long for John Miller to be doing the game...[/quote']

Quit bitchin HeadSox. At least you can choose which feed to watch tomorrow. Hell, out here in California we get the Cubs-Cardinals which they always play up to be a big rivalry. Well, not out here. Even the Giants-Dodgers rivalry now pales in comparison to the Red Sox-Yankee one. Everyone I know would like to see those two teams play on Fox tomorrow. Well it looks like I have to listen to it via radio on my computer feed. I hope the good Tim shows up tomorrow.

It's probably because, as a child, you had a bad experience with a horse. Classical Conditioning.

Pena's bat obliterates... WTF are you watching. Pena is horrible. If pitchers keep throwing him offspeed pitches' date=' which they will, WMP will continue his horrid start. Where the production there? Coco has already shown that he can be good offensively. He has great speed and is great on the basepaths and can bunt for a hit. If you look at his 2 years prior to Boston, which I think was him coming into his own, he was awesome. Then he came to Boston, broke his finger, and played injured that contributed to his off-year. If you notice, he has been swinging the bat well in the last week or so.[/quote']

Ted, the Coco vs Wily Mo controversy will soon be very moot. Jacoby Ellsbury is on fire at Portland and it wouldn't surprise me if they move him up to the Bigs right from there within a month or so. The guy has what it takes to be an outstanding ballplayer; he can hit, run, throw decently, steal bases and has a terrific work ethic. I would like to see him in CF by this summer.

11-4 and I missed it... Goddamn we are on a roll this season.

You know, whether or not we make the Series, but to beat the Yankees like this, you couldn't ask for anything better, except for the 2004 season, respectively.

Haha 7 straight baby! Sox improve their MLB best record (its early in the season I know) to 15-7. Sox have taken the first 4 matchups of the year. Dice worked very hard for the 4th inning but god still love this kid for having the presence like "no biggie, I can get out of this". He did enough for his team to get the W. The offense seems to continue on this groove that they have going, tremendous game for Lugo (sans the error). I may be wrong but wasnt that Lugo's first HR since when he was a D-Ray? Just one of those shots that look harmless off the bat. Pedroia's bat steadily coming around, early in his career he has gotten his hits while facing New York :)

As I said Jacko... your bullpen will be in arm slings

Why would you call for new CF'er when Crisp has just started hitting the ball and showing that he still (potentially) has what he had in Cleveland and Pena, be it only one game, showed the EXACT things we've wanted to see from him?

I love the tools that Ellsbury has just like you do, but see no need, if Coco keeps playing like he is, to rush Ellsbury up to the Bigs. Rushing guys up seldom pays off and will, more often than not, retard their development.

Sure if Coco shits the bed and starts hitting .240, then yea, a move might be in order. Or, if Coco gets hurt and Pena is still striking out 15 times a week...but until that happens, I'm happy where we are and giving Jacoby all the time he needs before getting him into the Show.

I don't think the way the O has been playing is entirely out of character...the only thing I see that is absolutley going to change is Manny sucking the house...the other guys are performing better than they have, but not above their capabilities.

Good win tonight. Great to see Youk and Lugo showing some pop. Matsuzaka was very effective minus the 4th. It's a mystery with him and the fourth inning. Maybe something about facing the lineup the 2nd time around? I have no clue. Besides that inning, he was very good. Improves to 3-2. Rivera was poor again...hard to see whats going on with him. Bullpen remains rock solid, throwing 3 shutout innings. Timlin was solid, Okajima was solid, and Piniero came in for mop up duty.

Well, we maintain the best record in baseball, and improve to 15-7. Yanks loss streak now at 7. Wonderful. We should win the game tomorrow as well. Hope so.

I really think there's something bigger going on with Mo than "we just have his number". His cutter doesn't have the last second break that it used to which, to me, would indicate that he's not putting that extra umph behind it to get the cutting action. A decrease in velocity like he's shown makes me think he's hiding some kind of injury, potentially a serious one. I see a DL stint in the very near future.

I was thinking the same thing. That Cut Fastball can put strain on you overtime so I wouldn't be surprised if he's got a shoulder issue. I missed the game today, but if anyone saw it, could you tell if Rivera was throwing his arm normal, or in a different angle/pattern with the Cut FB? That could give us clues.
