2006, 5 starts- (3-1, 4.50 ERA) 32 innings, 27 Hits, 18 Runs (16 ER), 6 HRs, 13 Walks, 21 Ks

 

2007, 5 starts- (5-0, 2.48 ERA) 32.2 innings, 27 Hits, 10 Runs (9 ER), 1 HR, 7 Walks, 28 Ks

 

All winter long we had to hear how much he sucked and what a terrible trade we made to get him. No Yankee pitcher will have 5 wins by the end of May.

You don't see how Romero, Timlin, Pinero, and Snyder aren't good pitchers?

Actually, the only two in the bullpen that worry me when they come out are Timlin and Romero. I have confidence that Pinero will get better and that Snyder will as well.

While the pitchers Crespo mentioned do suck, the yankee pen is on track to pitch over 600 innings. That sucks pretty hard.

 

EDIT: I see where our "failure to communicate" occured, i meant the Yankees and not the sox as you probably know now.

What has Snyder done, EVER to warrant any kind of confidence? Pinerio can probably post a high 4.00 ERA, but he won't be an impact pitcher.

Can I just say that I think we (as fans) might be starting to get complacent about this team.

 

Josh Beckett threw a tremendous game tonight. He didn't get a lot of K's but he was in control throughout and looks like an ace. In about 2/3 of his starts so has Schilling, and Matsuzaka certainly looks like an adequate #2. This team has some great starting pitching which we shouldn't take for granted.

Throw in Wakefield who will eat innings at 4-4.5 ERA ball and I've got a real cautious optimism about this team.

Yes A700 alot of people said this, but if you check out Pitching staff prediction thread, I had Beckett as the staff ace. Its still early and to keep this pace up for a whole season would be tough, but hes far and away ahead of were he was last year.

The biggest thing about Beckett is the homerun total is down. The results are really starting to show that hitters can rest on his fastball anymore and its working wonders. Good for him
