Clippard had impeccable control. I have a feeling he is nibbling way too much to the wrong hitters. Nothing that experience wont help. But he needs to spend a good amount of time in AAA. He has the stuff for the bigs. He just doesnt have the refined control and the experience to get these guys out on a consistent basis.

 

Unfortunately, this likely means Kei Igawa redux. Kill me now.

 

The Yankees have decided to demote Tyler Clippard to the minors to make room on the roster for Kevin Thompson.

 

Sean Henn will get to stick around as a result, giving the Yankees nine relievers at the moment. Henn would be sent down when the Yankees need a fifth starter next week. Kei Igawa figures to be the choice.

I wouldnt be surprised if it is Runelvys Hernandez who is pitching lights out in AAA right now. THen again, Runelvys is AWFUL, so I dont really think we have much of a choice right now. When the hell is Phil returning damnit!!

they wont get anywhere with it. But if we lose Runelvys, I wont be upset. I just want a guy in the 5 hole who can give 5 solid innings on a nightly basis. TClip did that for 4 starts and has since shat the bed.

 

BTW, TClip has already been demoted. The yankees will go with 9 relievers until the spot comes up again and the yankees may promote DeSalvo, Igawa or Runelvys. Gotta say, all 3 have dominated in the AAA pinstripes. I think using DeSalvo is a poor idea. He gave up in his last few starts here. I saw it in his eyes. He was beaten from the beginning. Igawa looks like he is really coming on, but I'd rather he sustain it longer. A guy like Runelvys is totally disposable, so he'd be on my list. Give him 1 start, if he is alright, give him another. Once he shits the bed, send him packing.

I think I'd just like to see what we have. He is nothing more than a throw away starter. If we catch Aaron Small circa 2005 in a bottle, then wonderful. If we have Tim Redding circa 2005, cut bait.
