Atrocious read by Abreu.

Exactly, if he goes after it like that he has got to make the play. If he isn't going to catch it he has got to play it off the wall and try to keep the runner from first from scoring.

Oppurtunity wasted, and considering they're going to have to go to the bullpen early, and Joe is going to be hesitant to use Rivera (so it's a short bullpen anyway), one run there is not nearly enough.

...is there a reason I can't see this game on MLB.tv? I shouldn't be blacked out and I'm pretty sure it's not nationally televised..

Is it possible that it has something to do with the time frame that FOX owns? If so I'm not sure why YES would be able to show the game.

As for the game itself, unless the Yankees score a bunch of runs in the bottom of the sixth, Roger is going to want to come out for the seventh, but I doubt Torre and Guidry are going to let him. I think he really was pretty sharp today. His first two innings were fairly rough, and he threw a lot of pitches which hurt him, but after that he really settled down. Wilson did a nice job with the two run double, and Roger would really just have to tip his hat to him. The one thing that I really liked about this is that it's becoming clear that the Yankees finally have a strikeout pitcher. His splitter, as Al Leiter is saying, was really sharp today.

EDIT: I understand it's against the Pirates, and all of you guys are going to probably say that he shouldn't be giving up three runs against a team like that...and I agree. But it was his first start, and, in my opinion, he was pretty sharp, especially after the first two innings.

so his next start will be against arizona or the mets?

I believe his next start will be on Friday, against the Mets, one which I will be in attendance for.

Wait, so is the game on FOX? Because that would explain it. Are you suggesting that it's not on YES?

Oh, no. My bad. The game is on YES. I'm saying that maybe once you reach a particular time each Saturday, MLB.TV won't work until after the FOX games end (around 7:00). This is all speculation, because I'm just not sure. It could very well be the MLB.TV is experiencing a simple problem.

Yeah...it's the weirdest thing. It's registered out of Florida so even Red Sox games shouldn't be blacked out (unless they play Tampa Bay or Florida...) but they get blacked out anyway. I don't know, maybe they can just tell where I am. But I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be blacking me out. I'll look into it. Thanks for the insight.

Yeah, sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Fortunately I don't have to worry about it, because I get YES. But I also have MLB.TV, and if it's a problem, I hope it's fixed by the time the Red Sox game starts tonight.

No doubts about Chacon. He sucks. The Yankees will continue to be the only team he has helped in his career today. Might as well still be on their payroll.

Hopefully Clippard will not have the same fate.

You would have a point if the Pirates weren't the worst team in baseball.

20 minutes, 39 pitches, 3 runs......done, and done, for anyone who did have doubts.

Id say the Pirates do. Of course now on ESPN they are glorifying saying that there is no stopping the Yankees... ok the win streak started last week against the lowly white sox, even the Yanks pitching staff can hold down this team. White Sox are the worst hitting team in the majors at .233. Now theyre on the brink of a 3 game sweep of the Pirates, no surprise there
