I really, really thought the Rockies were going to walk away with the WC and maybe take the division from the Dodgers. I was way off!

Well, they still have a great shot at the WC. Come post season anything can happen, they showed us that in 07 when they got to the WS with home field advantage against them in each round.

I would like to see them go far honestly. I have no preference between them, the Dodgers, and the Cardinals. There are things I like about all 3 of those teams. In the Rockies case I would love to see Giambi get another shot at a ring, I like a lot of the guys they have, and as much as I like Clint Hurdle Jim Tracy deserves a lot of credit. As for the Dodgers I love Torre, love Mattingly and would love to see him get his first ring, and love guys like Russell Martin and Matt Kemp. Not to mention I've always had a soft spot for the Cardinals since rooting for Ozzie Smith and adopting him as my all-time favorite player after seeing him do backflips in 1995 when I was a wee-little tee-ball player playing on a team called the Cardinals with our ghetto red t-shirts and StL caps. I think it's gonna be a good October.

I haven't looked up the scenarios, but I would be a very happy guy if the Rockies could get St. Louis in the NLDS.

I guess Colorado would get home field in the first round if they won the division, but STL would scare me. They probably have the best playoff rotation.

But the worst playoff bullpen, and last night's implosion is a testament of it.

I didn't watch that game nor have I watched more than a couple Cardinals game this year, but just looking at their bullpen stats, they don't look awful. Though I wouldn't trust Ryan Franklin in the 9th in the playoffs.

 

Plus they have Smoltz and Lugo.

They don't "look" awful, but this is a bullpen that:

 

A) Scares no one.

 

B ) Doesn't have a true set-up man, and they're closer strikes out less people than Carlos Silva.

St. Louis has an incredible rotation. I just don't want them to get the Dodgers in the first round because they're almost a lock to dominate LA. I think it's still possible for the Rockies and Cardinals to face each other in the NLDS even if the Rockies don't win the West though.
