Or a realist.

Oh' date=' thanks for that bullet-proof piece of information.[/quote']

no problem, gaylord... (I wonder if anyone will get this)

I agree with Crespo. The bullpen will keep the sox from even having a shot at the east. The yankees are built for regular season dominance. It is the postseason where they have the most trouble.

The Red Sox are a 90 win team, but they either need the Central teams to beat up on each other, or trade for a closer for them to win the wild card.

This team has a great rotation, a great lineup, a solid defense team, but Joel Pinerio? Seriously, Joel Pinerio? Gagne wasn't worth the extra two million?

I think the Yanks rotation is kind of overrated. Until Pettitte proves himself, theyre not even 3 deep (solid pitchers I mean). To rely on Pavano and Igawa is in my mind more of a risk then depending on Matsuzaka, Beckett and Paps.
Posted
their rotation will give them innings. That is all they will need. Like I said, they are a regular season team right now. And they have some serious depth in the MiLB ranks. With their bullpen and offense, they will mash the regular season. It is their postseason hopes that rest on Pettitte returning to his previous form, but for the regular season, all he has to do is throw 200IP and be better than Randy was.

Agreed, the offense and bullpen (specifically long-relivers) will be called on a lot to bail out Pavano and Igawa. IMO the Yanks should start thinking seriously about a very early call-up for Hughes.

Igawa is an innings eater. His innings may be marred with lots of runs, but overall, he will pitch a bunch of innings. His line may be 6-7IP 3-4ER on average but with the yankee lineup, that gets you 15 wins. It is Pavana I am worried about. Rumor has it, he is going to throw 3 or 4 times in April and may be moved by May. The ascencion of Hughes is near. Heard he looked downright nasty today in his outing.
