I'm saying the Broncos are our kryptonite, just as we are to the Colts, and I'll believe that until the beat us in the playoffs, once they do, more power to 'em.

That's not true, though.

Broncos/Patriots is not the same as Patriots/Colts anymore. The Patriots haven't been able to beat the Broncos... regular season or post season. The Colts have beaten the Patriots. The last two times, even. So how is that even the same thing?

I have a little theory that there's only so many defensive looks you can throw at Peyton before you have to resort to schemes that Peyton has on video tape, has studied, and is able to recognize and figure out how to beat. **

This just seems like it's Peyton's year with the way the sports world works. The Steelers don't win the Super Bowl when they're 15-1 and look like the best team in the league... they win it the year they have to win out just to make the playoffs. The Cardinals don't win the World Series the any of the years they run away with the best record in the National League... they win it when they back into the playoffs. Sports are weird. I can't help but think the year that everyone counts them out if the year they do it.

**edit: Whoa! Len Pasquerelli agrees with me!

Fair point, although you haven't beaten THIS Colt team. They won this year.

Our whole damn team plays better on the road this year, Brady on turf.

This doesn't make sense. I find there is a bit more of a difference between the Colts playing inside, where they can use their speed to their ultimate advantage, as opposed to playing outdoors in possibly s***** conditions that will slow them down. Face it, even if the Game was in Foxboro, the track isn't as fast as it is in Indy.

I don't think the home/away difference has that big of an impact.

Yeah, a lot of teams are good at home, as were the Chargers.

Yeah, the game the Chargers essentially handed to you. The Patriots won and they get all of the credit in the world but if they play like they did on Sunday do you honestly think they'll beat the Colts?

I'm not disrespecting them, I'm not saying theyre not good. But I feel this is a worse team then the Chargers and if they're going to beat us they're going to have to execute their gameplan which they evry well might do. Also, if Peyton is bck to his old self, then yes, we're more f***ed then in the past, as I thouroughly pointed out in my last post.

I think the fact you are taking them so lightly does show a sign of disrespect. I wouldn't take a team with Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, and Marvin Harrison so lightly.

I also think the Chargers were limited in what they could do by their QB. Rivers is essentially a rookie quarterback. Peyton has a lot more experience and is head and shoulders the better QB. And since it's the most important position on the field, well...

I'm not saying I'm not nervous, every play-off game gets me nervous. Remember, I'M NOT GARUNTEEING VICTORY.

Could have fooled me.

the next big game he wins will be his 1st

and considering

he started 50 games at tennesee thats a legacy of big time failure

wouldnt you gentlemen agree??

t martin won a national championship at tennesee the year manning left

anyone remember T martin?

he runs a barbeque stand outside of knoxville these days

hes a 3 point favorite as of this morning luc
the three points is for the home field otherwise the bookies see the game even. This is a big difference from past years where Manning's Colts were clear favorites.

3 point favorite after winning 12 games during the season,at home, after beating the pats 2xs in a row??

this tells you how confident the oddsmakers are in indiana this weekend

in normal conditions indy would be a 7+ point favorite

but we're not talking normal

we're talking peyton manning against belichek and brady

Posted

why is that??

dont you have faith in peyton

dont you think hes ""due""

dont you think tony dingee is ready for prime time??

or are you just using your head again??

this line will fall, mark my words

if you like the pats play them now

come kickoff when the wise guys start laying off all their money it will be less than 3

We'll just have to agree to disagree. I consider being scared an equal to being nervous. Being scared strikes nerves, which is what being nervous is. But you're not nervous because it's the Colts, you're nervous because of the playoffs. You have no fear of the Colts, do you? I know you're not guaranteeing victory, you've said it a lot. But it's for damn sure that you sound like you expect it. Thus, if the Colts beat us, you're going to be shocked. Someone who isn't scared of a team that beats his team is always shocked. This is what you're setting yourself up for, whether you see it or not.

I'm with you, I want the Pats to win, and I do think they have a better chance to win this game. But you can't ignore what the Colts can accomplish. The Pats don't have every advantage, which is what you're trying to make it sound like. They have a lot, but as do the Colts.

I guess the difference between me and you is that I don't expect victory, it seems like you do. It's unhealthy to expect it.

I never said I expected to win either, I think our chances are greater than in the regular season, and the point I was trying to make was that I was less scared of the Colts than I was the Chargers.

i dont

i think the colts are more dangerous than sandiego but they have their own marty factor in peyton whos 07 playoff performance has been deplorable

Hasn't been so bad. He played a defense that draws comparisons to one of the best ever and brings looks he's never seen before. That Ravens defense is unique to say the least. I don't care if the numbers say they're only 2 or so points better, that defense is far better than any other in the League.

He's been patient, using his check downs. You don't have the safeties to do what you used to against him.

You like bringing up numbers... but why neglect to mention these ones...

326/2tds/1int

321/3tds/1int

He's torched your defense the last two times he's played you. And he's completed passes at, like, a 65% rate. The only reason for no more TD's is that he let the running backs have some fun too.

All I'm saying is that if we're going to bring up numbers, why not bring up the most recent?

I'm suprised to see ESPN's Acuscore actually has the Pat's as the slight favorites. I think from pure numbers and matchup, including the playoffs, the pats have the edge. Brady plays well on artificial turf too, hes like 23-1 on art turf, so I wouldn't necessarily give manning the edge in INDY.

Oh. My. God. If I hear one more person bring up Brady on artificial turf and then say they don't give the edge to Indy I'm going to puke. Brady being great on turf is all well and good, but THE COLTS, AS A WHOLE TEAM, ARE MADE FOR THE TURF. That means all packages (offense, defense, and special teams) perform better on turf. The Pats have Brady who's pretty damn good on turf, and that suddenly gives them the edge? Give me a break.

Posted
I'm not saying I would give the Pats the edge for Brady playing so well indoors and on artificial turf, Im saying that becuase of this, I don't think Indy has very much of an edge. I would say it's more even. I'm certainly not downplaying Indy, just putting out there that Indy isn't the only team thats great on artifial turf.

Looks like Chicago's D came to play. I'd like to see NO win because it's a good story, but I won't care if they lose because it will make the conspiracy theory about the NFL artificially getting them a Super Bowl would go away. At least I hope they would.
