Good move. Cheap' date=' dependable and slightly above mediocre. Great guy to have around three days a week.[/quote']

If he is starting 3 days a week then we are in trouble. Rumor has it that Cairo is insurance and the kid we got in the RJ deal is going to get every shot at winning Cairo's spot.

With Cairo solidifying the infield, the Yankees can ride out any injuries to their infield starters and should breeze into the World Series.

Now I sound like the fans here discussing every bit player the Sox get. LOL!

:)

I do love riling you guys up once in a while.

cmon now Gom. You are better than that. Riling up in January only leads to fighting. Wait until the season and riling up can lead to submission :)

Great move. Seeing him will always remind me of the time he trotted around the bases thinking hit a HR while Manny made the catch in the OF. I always gigle when I see him.

Miguel Cairo reminds me of that July 1st game when I thought we were sunk' date=' then he slammed a triple and tied the game bringing Sierra.[/quote']I don't remember that.

I was at that game. I have season tickets in the bleachers, I was waiting by the exit ramp, I was so pissed, and I was leaning over the cement wall in front of where the ball hit. I just remember screaming at the ball to get down. Great game to be at, I'll tell you that, Jacksonian.

2004 baby. The Jeter diving into the stands game.
It's ironic that Jeter's most popular catch (photographically at least) was in a year when the Red Sox finally won the World Championship in storybook fashion. Other legendary catches like Mays catch in the 1954 World Series and Swoboda's 1969 catch against the Orioles were part of the lore of a World Championship.

Jeter could have f***ing stopped in fair territory after making that catch.
Pokey's catch was better. He wasn't flailing like a windmill in a hurricane.

yeah right' date=' because so many star players just love diving face first into concrete.[/quote']Maybe he thought the seats were padded. He hasn't made a face first dive into the seats since then.

I didnt mean starting, I meant three days a week of late inning replacement to rest Cano, Mintekiwicvyiuthrshamsnwitz, A-Rod, or Jeter. (Cairo can play almost all infield, no?) or just a last-inning pinch hitter.

Not even close. Pokey got to land on grass.

I thought that the Jeter dive was in the extra innings game that John Flaherty had the game winning hit

it was. But remember Manny's HR of Tanyon that put the sox up by 1? Then the yankees were down to their last out and Ruben Sierra hit a seeing eye single up the middle, up came Cairo and tied it with the triple.

None of us Red Sox fans think of that game when we see Cairo., but we do remember that ridiculous trip around the bases on Manny's catch and Manny laughing. I still giggle.

that was pretty funny, I must say. I just think you are suppressing that memory 700.

I see your point. But that game was one of the best individual games that I have ever seen.
