Boston Herald: Talks Break Down With Matsuzaka, Deal Unlikely To Get Done

Jacko. That figure was the original unsubstantiated speculation. Nothing new has "leaked" or been "speculated". Those aren't the current "reports", they are the current regurgitation of misinformation. You know, typical modern day sports journalism.

I hear ya. I am only going by what the herald said.

Thing is, it is obvious that the sox leaked this s*** to the herald. Why hasnt Boras fired back. Why hasnt he come out and publicly laced into the red sox for lowballing his client if that is in fact what they are doing? What are the sox trying to prove here?

I know what a lot of people think, the scribes are saying that this is the way the boston media spin will help lessen the blow to the "fragile" nation over the loss of DMat. Overall, Kilo and a bunch of others should be banging down theo's door and kicking him in the nuts if this doesnt fly.

A little too strong of an analogy.

Nobody is being denied permission to play because of any of those reasons. They are being denied permission (or would be) because of a decision they made. That decision is to play ball in the NPB. NPB has an agreement with MLB. Don't want to hurt your chances of playing in the MLB? Don't start off in the NPB. There's a league in Taiwan and Korea, and while the scouting of that market is in its infancy, we are seeing signings of young talent to come over and go through the minors here.

Not really. You are asking a young kid to move to another country to play baseball. Nearly all players start out playing in their home country one way or another. Either way, you have to agree that the system needs fixing.

I think Boras is trying to shoe horn a little leverage by freezing them out. They are playing their cards. Putting the onus on Boras is probably something he never expected. His reaction should be interesting.

Certainly needs fixing, but they can start wherever they choose to, so the consequences that come with that decision are theirs to live with. We, and so do the Yankees, have 17 y/o kids from Asia in developmental ball.

I am not even a sox fan and I am riveted by this negotiation. If anything' date=' the sox know how to keep interest.[/quote']

Jackson, we are riveted by this soap opera whether we want to admit it or not. I kept telling myself I was going to shitcan any such talk about the topic until deal or no deal was made. You can see by the look of things that I didn't have much in the way of will power.

Scott Boras will be holding a press conference at his Newport Beach, Calif., offices at 9 p.m. EST this evening. The Japanese media, as well as the Associated Press, is expected to be on hand. Boras will be, or he had better be, asked about the state of negotiations between the Red Sox and his client, Daisuke Matsuzaka. Boras has not been heard from recently as talks have essentially broken down between him and the Red Sox about the fate of Matsuzaka.

There are conflicting reports as to whether or not Matsuzaka will be at the press conference, so we’ll probably just have to wait and see.

The deadline for Matsuzaka to sign with the Red Sox is this Thursday at midnight.

cant wait to see what that pompous ass has to say

BTW, this better be on T.V. My guess is NESN will have it.

s*** Beckett, you get to watch it on TV three thousand miles away and I'm only 45 away and won't be able to watch it anywhere. Well maybe it is just as well because I would be spend the bulk of that time cursing out that greedy and rotten SOB. Keep those fingers crossed.
