Baltimore,Cleveland and someone else that I can't think off the top of my head, where said to be after his services, with Cleveland the biggest competition.

Riverside, Thank you for realizing my point, I'm just glad i'm not alone:D

No' date=' the cubs were NOT on Drew's trail. Once they signed Soriano, they had too many OFers for spots. Getting Drew would have been another annoyance. But you should thank the cubbies for making the sox eat a few extra mil if they truly did drive up the price.[/quote']

They surely didnt have enough OFers for spots if they were after Lugo to play center field:dunno:

as far as setting the market goes

we're in charge of that now

we have no right to bitch moan or behoove the skanks for spending as we're the culprits today

as far as driving to baltimore goes

i go to ny

i buy sox yanks tix in a row and take 8-10 of us

the money i save on tix we spend at the hotel and it is a lot of money when you consider sox yanks in fenway are generally 100-200 tix minimum and if you buy them for ny theyre 25.00

last year was the 1st in 10 i didnt take my kids to fenway

this year it wont happen either lest im given tix

i get into maybe 10-12 games with friends every year but the days of every weekend are way gone

plus

i always find myself resisting the urge to choke the s*** out of some panty waste on a cell phone screaming CAN YOU SEE ME NOW TREVOR....LOOK IM OVER BY THE MAN WITH THE MASK ON....TREVOR....CAN YOU HEAR ME??

my god

when did the sweater vest and beirkenstock sandal wearers get into baseball?

1 reason i like the bronx is that these people generally end up getting beaten or robbed after the night games when they venture out to jerome ave and 159th

Might Just Work Out

J.D. Drew to the Red Sox. Drew, if healthy, provides Boston with excellent OBP skills, good left-handed sock and strong defense in right. In other words, he's a meaningful upgrade over the outgoing Trot Nixon. Of course, Drew has a penchant for injury (although, it's worth noting that the only time he landed on the DL over the past three seasons was because of a hit-by-pitch injury), and his complicated personality might not play well in Boston. That said, if they keep Manny Ramirez around (which they should), then this is going to be an offense capable of scoring 1,000 runs in 2007.

Had To Have Him

The Red Sox really had no choice in the matter: they had to sign Julio Lugo. The departure of Alex Gonzalez left a gaping hole at short, and the Sox had no internal options. As well, at this late hour, Lugo was the only option on the market at large. Fortunately for Boston, he's a good one. A four-year contract wasn't advisable, but Lugo had all the leverage. He'll provide excellent range at short, doubles power (especially as a right-handed batter in Fenway) and solid on-base skills. Lugo will be a step up offensively and defensively, but they paid dearly for him.

Good article with JD Drew on the Boston Herald. He's ready to prove himself to Boston, and us fans will see his passion.

I actually think Drew is going to vastly exceed his expectations. He knows what will happen in Boston if his passion isn't there. He signed the deal' date=' and I would think he knows what he's getting himself into.[/quote']

You can't put too much stock into the intelligence of a guy who talks like Forrest Gump and Foghorn Leghorn's lovechild.

He really could care less what the media and fans think of him. Look at his career from the time he refused to sign with Philly. You are kidding yourself if you think playing in Boston means anything to him. There is only one person who JD thinks of. That's himself. He has never had any loyalty to the team, city or fans where he has played. So don't get all warm and fuzzy thinking he's going to change just because of him joining the team.

As long as he produces on the field I couldn't care less.

edit - And that whole Pihlly situation is nonsense. John Elway did the exact same thing.

Ive been on talksox since around the all-star break of the 2005 season, just giving friendly advice to step lightly around the elder posters. I went as far as being immature with a select few but soon realized to refrain getting into any fights that the mods soon make a seperate thread for. You do seem like a cool poster, lookin foward to what you have to contribute

Eli Manning with the Chargers as well

For those that are interested, in Gordon Edes' chat on Boston.com he reported that JD Drew and Julio Lugo are now both present in Boston to undergo their physicals. A dual press conference of where they receive their cap & jersey should be held tomorrow in the 12-5 time frame

I was trying to point out that there is a way to justify John Elway doing that. At least he was good and could actually lead a team. You will see soon that that is not the case with JD.

Does that make what he did any better?

Posted
No' date=' but there isn't even an argument on JD's side.[/quote']

The argument is that the DRays (I believe) gave out a huge signing bonus either that year or the year before and Boras felt that Drew deserved one of equal value. He told teams this going into the draft and Philly still drafted Drew knowing this. He then went unsigned because Philly wouldn't give up the big bonus.

Elway didn't refuse to sign because he felt he was being low balled. He wanted to go to a better team. How is that any better? Drew at least would have signed if he got what he felt was his market value. Elway just said "screw you" and refused to even negotiate(similar to Eli a couple years back). And Elways leadership led them to exactly 0 SuperBowls before he had Terrel Davis in the backfield. Elway won those SuperBowls on TD's back. He would have never won them without him.

BTW: Tek held out just the same way JD Drew did when he was drafted so I'm assuming that you feel the same way about Tek right?

I don't care about the specifics. JD is a heartless douchebag and John Elway looks like a horse.

BTW: What the hell is Tek?

I hate the Broncos more than any team (Especially Elway), but Elway gets a free pass. He's a hall-of-famer and one of the greatest quarterbacks ever. He was the only player on those Super Bowl losing teams. Nobody can win without a running back.

I agree, I hate the Broncos, but Elway = the Man.

Julio, your Dodger undershirt is showing. But I can understand your point. You ought to put the blame, however, where it belongs. Why in hell did Di Podesta give him such a clause in his contract in the first place? I wonder if Boras surmised the FA possibilities before the 2005 season and wanted that put in his contract because of the paucity of valuable FA's in the fall of 2006? Knowing BorASS, a real and supreme douche, I wouldn't put it past him. I also agree with you---Elway was a stud.

So far this has not happened. What a coincidence if on Wednesday D-Mat goes back to Japan and the Sox find something physically wrong with Drew.

Whats more important right now?

Theo being present to introduce Lugo & Drew to Boston

or

Theo being present to talk with Boras about Matsuzaka...

choices

does having 2 sets of labia and an introitus cause someone to fail an MLB physical? Cause if so, JD may have a problem.

Lugo press conference taking place now on NESN

JD Drew has returned home due to a formaility in his contract that only Scott Boras can work out, he of course is busy right now

EDIT: Jeez weird seeing Lugo donning a Sox cap, happy none the less
