Great news.

No, no Lester as closer. He's stated in interviews that he prefers the routine of getting ready for a start, and he's uncomfortable relieving, which is supported by his dreadful performances when coming in as a RP.

Excellent news but baseball should still be on the back burner for now. Now it's about getting healthy again and building his strength back up

Great News

If he can pitch next year, what about having him as our 5th starter and Wake in the bullpen

I think he needs a full yr in AAA. Remember, remission does not mean no more chemo. I am not sure of his course, but remission is something that is usually shot past in term of therapy. Expect him to be weaker and leaner than ever before coming into ST and he will need a bit to strengthen up. He should be sent to AAA for the full season with the potential for a late season call up. Get him out of the spotlight, let him get back to full strength and then consider bringing him up.

The Red Sox confirmed Tuesday that Jon Lester has been cleared to end chemotherapy.

The Boston Globe reported Tuesday that Lester's lymphoma was in remission. "He's going to have one more treatment and then he's done," manager Terry Francona said. "So, from where I sit, the meetings are already a success."

no more chemo, even better news

This is great news!!!!!

This will definitly bolster all of our pitching staff but they should be cautious nevertheless...

Baseball comes second

As much as I hope he bombs for the Sox, I wish him all the well with his health. Good luck, kid.

Can't even say a nice thing without a s***** comment, huh? Everyone knows you want him to bomb, do you need to say it in a thread about his health?

Not if he is a Red Sox. I never wish injury, health problems, etc. I just want them to suck on the field, but prosper everywhere else in life.

Read my quote. Dissect it. If you understand the inference, then you realize I wish him a complete and healthy recovery. Grow up.

I never stated you said anything otherwise. I merely asked a question, and your answer says a lot about who has some growing to do. You can't separate your hatred for the Sox from your desire to wish a member of the team good health. Petulant.

No reason to add the "I hope he bombs" in thing though.

Of course I can, or I would wish him dead. Try learning to read. Go read the post. Again. Then bring your friends over to discuss it. Analyze it. Then you will see that although I do hate the Sox, and wish that all their players play horribly and they finish in last place every season...I wish no ill will towards them personally healthwise, or really any which way outside of between the lines of a baseball field.

The very fact that I have to explain this to you shows you lack an ability to comprehend normal human interaction. When was the last time you actually left your house?

Meant in jest. In speaking to physicians that I knew, and having a strong medical background, and my brother who is in medical school and hopes to be an oncologist, the general feeling was that he would be fine and the type of carcinoma he has is relatively easily treatable and has a high rate of survival.

Either way, good luck to Lester.

this isnt a carcinoma. It is a lymphoma. There is a difference.
