What do you do, hang out outside their windows to peek at their lives? I live in NY, never heard the rumor, lol. ORS, you really need to get out more. Seriously. I'm starting to worry about you.

Pettite coming to the Yankees will backfire on the Yankees. Screw him. I'd rather have Clemens back.

and your reputation in my eyes continues to dwindle. f***in Clemens instead of Pettitte? Have you watched almost every single Yankees Red Sox game from 2003 previous? Clemens could not beat the sox, they owned him.

Yeah, that's real easy to do from Florida.

How about a history lesson. In the early 70's scientists at CERN decided to link their computers in way that allowed them to transfer data from computer to computer via networking. The concept of the internet was born, and Tim Berners Lee eventually created the ultimate realization of the concept when he created the World Wide Web. Decades later, I can converse with people from all over the country without leaving my couch or dialing a phone. Amazing isn't it.

It just so happens that I heard that rumor in Yankee fan forums filled with lots of people from NY.

so a rumor in a yankee fan forum when it supports your argument (and no link) is fine?

When it concerns something as trivial as Andy Pettite's extra marital affairs? Yes.

It's not like he's reporting breaking baseball news or backing up arguments with evidential numbers.

It was speculation from the start and continues to be such.

It's not an argument, just something I heard/read. Since his family is in Texas, and he would be returning to NY where this supposedly happened, I would imagine that doesn't sit well with his wife.

I'm not digging through thousands of threads to find links. Sure, it was a rumor, but one that not many people took exception to. This kind of stuff happens often. Last year, the rumor floating around the message boards was that Manny was laying pipe with Renteria's wife, and Manny's trade request centered around his wife wanting him out of Boston. The pieces fit. Renteria was out in two shakes and a couple of weeks later, Manny wants to stay.

That asks the question, Whos wife is Manny Sleeping with now? Shonda Schilling or Maybe Ortiz's wife.

Dude, Ortiz would kick the s*** out of Manny. I would definitely drive up to Boston to see that.

Come on Jacks, Clemens is a much better pitcher than Pettitte, regular and post-season. I'd rather see the Yankees sign Clemens for 1 year at 15 million over Pettitte. I still haven't forgiven him for Game 6, 2001 W.S.

So you don't leave the house, is that what this lesson is all about? After reading your posts the last couple of weeks, I'm not surprised.

More petty insults.

Yes, Gom. Being knowledgable about technology means I don't leave the house. Wonderful logic there. What an utterly cliche and simplistic insult. The funniest part about the common, "Get out of your parent's basement", internet insult is that the person doing it is insulting someone for using a computer.....with a computer. Brilliant.

Sorry...I'm out of carrier pigeons. Maybe I can use smoke signals next time.

I still havent forgotten all of these games....

Game 3 1999ALCS 2IP 5ER Loss (BTW, Pettitte won game 4 in that series)

Game 7 2003ALCS 3IP 4R would have lost if not for Little AND if Contreras could hold a f***ing lead, Pettitte would have won 2 games in that series, and game 6 would have been a clincher.

One thing I also havent forgotten. CLEMENS IS f***ING 44 YRS OLD! RJ and him can swap AARP cards during rain delays and play what was life like in the f***in 60s!

Clemens is a mercenary. Pettitte is a home grown yankee who the FO let go because they were f***ing going after Kevin Brown. Right now Clemens is a 6 inning pitcher in the NATIONAL LEAGUE! Dont get me wrong, if he fell into the yankees lap, then they should be happy, but the fact is, the guy will be Jaret Wright part deux with his longevity (not in performance mind you).

Pettitte is 14-9 in the postseason. Clemens is 12-8. So lets not think that Clemens doesnt have his warts. At his age, he could very well pull what he pulled in 05, remember, his hammy in Chicago which all but sealed the astros fate in the WS. Pettitte is the better bet right now.

regular season sure

id take clemens, who by all accounts is the best april thru august pitcher ever.

post season??

are you s***ing me??

you call yourself a yankee fan and come up with a statement like this??

do you watch these games

roger clemens is the biggest fraud ive ever seen with my own eyes come october outside of arod.

if i have a 6 run lead up 3games theres no one else i'd want out there but clemens

however

when matched up with equel talent raj tends to either

(1)pull his trick hammy

(2)blister up

(3)tweak his trick groin

if ive seen it once ive seen it 10times

from the 05 world series game 1 against chicago

to the 2001 playoffs against oakland to the 90 playoffs when he got tossed out of game 4 to game 6 in shea when he blistered up

to game 7nlcs in 04 when the odds makers made him,a 7 time cy young winner, a huge underdog against jeff suppan because they knew he'd choke the chicken..

roger clemens is the biggest underachiever in october history not named arod

just think of the head to heads with petey or dave stewart if you need a reminder of how f***ing pathetic this man has been in the post season.

Lets not forget that if Rivera could have held the lead in game 7, 2001...Clemens outpitched Schilling. He left with the lead, 2-1.

I'm not a Pettitte fan. Never really was. Anyways, he's better than what we have, so I guess go get him.

In all honesty, age aside, I would take both Pettitte and/or Clemens on my team any day of the week. If I were the Yanks I'd rather have Clemens, but I see the history with Pettitte.

But Clemens' age doesn't factor into the decision as much as the numbers being in the NL. That said, they're pretty filthy:

13-8, 1.87 ERA, 185 K's in 211 innings in 2005.

7-6, 2.30 ERA, 102 K's in 113 innings in 2006.

Pettitte's numbers have declined, he was nasty in 2005 but last year he was nothing to write home about.

Posted
Pettitte was weird last year. At the all-star break, I thought he was the worst pitcher ever. Then his home run rate stabilized, and his second half ERA was 2.80.
