Last year was the worst offensive year of Trots life if you ask me. The previous two years were injury filled. I'm on board as saying he could definitely have a bounce back year (like Nomar). This entire "steroid era" has screwed me up. I can't tell if players are coming or going or just adjusting anymore. But, hell, it ain't my money. Trot as the #4 outfielder? Damn right I'll take it.

Thanks for the update. That is strange. Just for shits I'd love to see Foulke accept. But I don't get the Gonzo one. Do the Sox get anything in return? I don't know anything about the new CBA so is there a draft pick involved? I'd die laughing if there was.

In my opinion, the Sox should have offered Nixon arbitration. Nixon would have eventually gotten a multi-year offer from another team, and even if he didn't, it wouldn't hurt for the Sox to bring him back as a 4th OF.

What this tells me is that Manny isn't going anywhere and J.D. Drew is about to sign with the Sox.

How much would Foulke get in arbitration... he had a decent year last year especially from Aug. 15th on. I bet he could get 5-6 million. In which case he would have to consider accepting, I definetly wouldnt be agiasnt that we need as much bullpen help as we can get.

I could certanily live with a line up like this

Youk

Crisp

Ortiz

Manny

Drew

Varitek

Lowell

Lugo

Pedroia

with a rotation of Schill, Beckett, Paps, D-Mat and Wake

Nixon wouldve accepted the arbitration right away if they offered it to him. It wouldve been last offseason all over again as they offered Tony G arbitration because he was a type A free agent, he accepted which put basically put him under contract for 2007. In think thats why they backed off the possibility-- "whoah guys we could be paying $6+ million this season for a backup outfielder"

And if Trot were to come back, he should be listed as the 5th OF. Wily Mo Pena's bat is much more valuable than Trot's is off the bench

so the sox will get a 2nd rounder and a 2nd round sandwich pick for AGon and nothing for Loretta? Interesting.

That isn't correct, the Sox only would get a sandwich pick after the first round.

I can definitely live with Ortiz-Manny-Drew in the middle of the order

That would be better than they had in 2006, but they would still have a hole at first base.

Not a Youkilis fan, huh? I think with Drew and Manny the Sox have enough power in the order. What I would love to see is WMP as the 4th OFer who gets a fair amount of PT, and then start to work him into 1B in practice etc., to see if he has the skills. If Johnny Damon can do it why can't WMP?

If WMP can really contribute, say, .290/.360/.530 with 25HR and 85 RBI then I think he'd be more than suitable as long as he can catch a ball.

Youkilis has too many holes in his offensive game to be a starting corner player at the ML level. I do agree with you that Wily Mo Pena has a lot of potential.

Then you have the hole at third base' date=' lowell isn't just a better hitter than Youkilis, but a lot better third baseman.[/quote']

Youk is a good number 1 or two hitter... He is decent at 3rd and the lineup would have enough power with Manny, Ortiz, Pena and Drew... not to mention i think V-Tek will have a bounce back year.

A #1 or 2 hitter that strike out 120 time and a # 3 hitter that hit 13 HR and 70 RBI, unlless its for K.C. not other ML team would had that kind of production on their top 3 hitters, or on their corners.
