Burns was 0-and-0 with a 4-point-70 E-R-A in seven relief appearances after being acquired from Cincinnati on August 29th.

Corey, acquired from Texas on July 30th, was 1-and-0 with a 4-point-57 E-R-A in 16 relief appearances with Boston.

Who the hell writes about baseball like this?

The Sox have re-signed relievers Bryan Corey & Mike Burns to 1 year deals and "sent" them down to Patwucket. Carlos Pena, Alejandro Machado and Ken Huckaby have elected free agency.

Thanks Riverside---and forgive my absence from this great board. Been concentrating on Dirt Dogs where there is plenty of action going on with our front office's plans this coming winter. Doesn't sound so earth shaking to me, though. Machado and Huckaby were nothing to write home about and Pena has washed out in Oakland, Detroit, New York and God knows where else. Hopefully he will find a place to hang his hat. Just glad it will not be in Boston. I know he is a local kid but, let's face it, taking on other team's rejects didn't work for us this year unless you consider Jason Johnson, Kyle Snyder and some of the other stiffs we picked up successful players. As for Corey and Burns, they are right where they belong in my opinion-----in the minors.:harhar: :harhar: :harhar: :harhar:

Is it possible that Theo finally learned that we cannot win anything taking on other team's refuse? I mean between Burns, Corey, Johnson and Snyder, Epstein reached a new low in stupidity and ineptness. Now, hopefully, he will get busy and do the right thing for our team. I have decided to cut him a little slack now and see if he can regain some of the confidence we had in him in 2004 before he had a brain shock.

The Red Sox will likely have interest in retaining Pena, but they weren't going to keep him on the roster and risk going to arbitration with him. Pena will see if anyone will present him with a better chance of regular playing time before he considers re-signing with his hometown team.

Hello to everyone, I have been a Red Sox fan for years and while I don't work for the Sox, I am in the baseball industry.

I have been posting at Soxprospects.com for the last two year, don't know if there is a reader or poster of that board in this page.

I think there are quite a few. Welcome to Talksox, feel free to make a thread in the introductions section.

Aloha.

I've posted less than a handful of times there, but I go and read through the threads from time to time. You are a scout, right?

I've been reading soxprospects for awhile, and this guy is a certifiable genius.

Think of him as the new Zenny.

This isn't really the place to do welcoming and introductions.

that said, welcome to talksox, I really hope you can become a consistent contributer. And don't worry about posting things in the wrong place... I do it as a rule!

Welcome brother!

To be a baseball scout isn't easy to get into, but there are different ways to get in, one of them of course is being an ex player, but being an explayer alone won't do it, you have the right connection, another one is to go as many amateur games as possible and meet and talk to as many scouts as possible and another way is to send letters, resumes, emails to all of the organizations to try to get your feets inside, in whatever capacity and make connections. The baseball scouting bureau just concluded their training, there was over 600 hundred students.
