glavine is 5-9 with a 3.41 era in nlds play and is old

jeff weaver couldnt get me out but beat sandiego like a drum

the better 9 on the field lay in ny

the better bullpen lies in ny as well

the best hitter in the nl is in st louis

theyve got a 1/2 assed chance with theduke and petey out but i think the mets do it in 6

Cardinals in 7. Even though the Cards aren't as good as they have been I still see them being able to overcome the Mets because of the fact that the Mets have 2 of their best pitchers out and now they won't have Cliff Floyd either. I just see the injuries to the Mets becoming a factor in this one. Pujols is going to have a huge series. I think he's going to own Mets pitching. The Cards will make their 2nd trip to the World Series in the last three years.

Glavine was able to out duel Weaver in a 2-0 win over the Cards. The 2 runs came off of Beltran's bat in the 6th inning with 2 outs as he knocked one out of the park.

Game 1 was a close one. It was a well pitched game by both starters and Jeff Weaver has surprised me in the playoffs considering that he wasn't that great during the regular season but he really picked his stuff up. The only mistake Weaver made was that two run shot he gave up to Beltran in the 6th inning. But with the way that Tom Glavine pitched last night it was enough runs for the Mets to beat the Cards. And of course Wagner came in and dominated in the 9th like he's done for the Mets most of the year. I still stand by my decision that the Cards will win this series in 7 games. After all last night was only the first game. I was hoping to catch game 2 of this series but of course I have to work the night shift tonight so I won't see it but at least I'll catch some of the Tigers and A's game before I leave.

Tonight's game was cancelled due to rain and will be made up tommorow. Thought I was going to end up missing this game because of work but since it's been pushed back a day I'll be able to see it tommorow. I would have thought that the Cards would win this one because Glavine was on short rest but now that he's got that extra day, I think the Mets will take this game Beltran and Delgado have been hitting well in this series and if the Weaver can't find a way to stop them tommorow then this is going to be another blowout. Mets will take it 8-4. And go up in the series 3-2.
Posted

Now the Cardinals are in the best situation having Carpenter close out the series. Jeff Weaver in New York just conjures up nightmares.

John Schuerholz must be kicking himself for sending Ray King, Jason Marquis and the very promising Adam Wainwright to STL in '04. ;)

Posted
Carpenter has problems on the road, but it's obviously better to be in a position like the Cards with Carpenter on the road than having this same situation with Weaver tonight. They took a gamble last night and it paid off big time. Weaver has been quite impressive.

Wow, Wainwright striking out Beltran (Cardinals killer) looking with the bases loaded. Doesn't get any sweeter than that.

Chavez just saved Willie for a couple of innings and leaving Heilman in was probably the better decision since Wagner would've choked anyways.

Posted
It's all hindsight, but Randolph should have played for the tie at home in the 9th and not send up Floyd but instead someone to bunt those two runners over. I really don't know if the Mets could have still tied it up since Wainwright's curve ball was unreal.
