Few news updates

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports Raiders head coach Art Shell will be fired after the season. Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is a candidate to step in as the team's head coach in 2007.

It would be a natural promotion for Ryan, who has done a phenomenal job with a young defense littered with players formerly known as raw underachievers. We've heard Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan could also be a candidate, which would be another interesting fit. Rex and Rob are the twin sons of the infamous Buddy Ryan.

Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News reports the Jets will be in "hot pursuit" of Michael Turner during the offseason.

Kevan Barlow is not expected to be back and Derrick Blaylock seems likely to be cut because of a $1.8 million base salary. Cimini says the Chargers will put the first-round tender on Turner but won't be able to pay both him and LT2. That doesn't really make sense unless the Jets are willing to give up two first-day picks for Turner, which seems unlikely.

If any of you are in a keeper league, snap him up.

ProFootballTalk.com reports Bucs coach Jon Gruden and General Manager Bruce Allen are both in danger of being fired at season's end.

The sons of owner Malcolm Glazer are thought to be less patient than their father and the Bucs have regressed offensively this season, albeit thanks to numerous key injuries. Ironically, Allen recently gave Gruden a "vote of confidence."

win lose or draw chad penningtons soft serve will have 1 of his receivers in critical condition or at the very least

in a stretcher before this game ends

and what happened to dallas??

i understand and appreciate a lot of the hatred people have for the cowboys but i thought they were serious about this season

im wondering if the tuna packed it in after a couple months with terrell owens

his defense is s***,when philly runs for 200 yards you got issues

his new stud qb is suddenly flawed and pitiful

and their running game is under utilized and ineffective when needed

and

they appear to lack motivation

t/o looks disappointed when someone else makes a play worth while

philly and garcia on the other hand looked pretty good and are arguably the hottest team in football, certainly in the nfc

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all the christians and to our Jewish kin

Happy CHANUKAH

i had the rabbi Mindi Kivman over for a glass of wine and some cheese and crackers this afternoon

im working on him

but after 35 years in an Israeli kibbutz and 50 years of preaching the Talmud he will be a tuff nut to convert

he will be a most valued friend and neighbor none the less

this is the best of america and the way the forefathers had it planned i feel

Dallas lost that game in the trenches. The Eagles were winning every single battle at the line of scrimmage. I didn't think that Eagles offense would be able to go into Dallas and push around the Cowboys but they did it. The score indicates that the game was a lot closer than it actually was.

jets played well enuff to win

the fins played good enuff to lose

im wondering if the dynamic duo of duante culpepper and joey harrington have seen their last glimpses of miami

harrington sucks and the fins didnt move till the 3rd stringer came into the game

culpepper, despite being hurt, has been called out for missing team meetings and being rather disinterested

saban thinks he invented football and he can indeed coach

if you think belichek has an ego issue you havent heard ole nick speak

he may indeed let these 2 walk, stay with lemon and draft some line help or outside speed

I really think that the Fins should try and trade for Moss, I doubt it'd take them much, since I dont think the Raiders want him, and it would reunite them, and make Culpeper good again, maybe.

over the years the fins have traded for such standup men as chuck muncie pete johnson cecil the deisel collins and all world *******/convict/woman beater the 1 and only lawrence phillips

randy moss is an upgrade in character over the above however i doubt very much that a hands on guy like saban would even consider the move

funny

both culpepper and moss's careers have skidded out since they parted ways

He signed a $300,000 dollar contract, and steals a $1,000 dollar TV in December.

mr collins had a brief albeit eventful career at lsu

the 1st time i saw him was on a saturday evening lsu/auburn i think and i think he may have been kevin faulks backup...

1st down he got 6

2nd down he went 75 yards

he finished the season with 5 games under his belt and 600 yards? i think

mel kuiper jr had him as a #1 pick but his desire to roam into strange dwellings late at nite were his down fall

from the picayune trib in nawlins

He began college at LSU and compiled 596 yards in his first season there. He was twice arrested for illegally entering dwellings and was kicked off the team. He made a second attempt at college football at McNeese State University but spent time in prison due to a failed drug screen.

hes due for release in 2014 and if @ when he gets out i'll bet anywhere 1000.00 that within the 1st month of his release he gets locked up again

Cotchery saved me. I was down 6 points going into last night's game, and had I lost it would have been the worst thing in the world. Faced off against my girlfriend (long story as to why she's in the league) for third place. Tomlinson picked a great week to not score 5 touchdowns.

well i know probly most of you would probly disagree with me but i feel the eagles have just as much of a chance of winning the super bowl with garcia as quarterback . the guy can play , me being a 49ers fan saw alot of him and was disapointed when they let him go . dont count out the eagles it wouldn't surprise me if they would go on to the supper bowl

Taylor blindsided Merriman on Wednesday, degrading Merriman's Pro Bowl season, which was interrupted by a four-game steroid suspension.

"He has a right to his opinion,'' Merriman said. "I've watched Jason Taylor for many years and he's a great pass rusher and a great player. So he's entitled to his opinion. As for my suspension, I went about all the right things I was supposed to do in sitting out the four games.''

Merriman had another comment for Taylor on Thursday

"I sent him a 'Lights Out' hat and a 'Lights Out' T-shirt and a bag of popcorn," he said, "so he can watch us in the playoffs."

Shame.

How can anyone support Merriman on this issue? It's about time someone called him out on this. I hope Taylor tells him, "I sent him some videotapes, so he can watch his team when he was suspended for juicing."

This guy is a cheater. I hope you guys laugh the next time Bonds comes out with a one-liner.

I never said I liked the guy, I laughed because he onelined one of the players I hate most in the league..when Bonds calls out himself, I'll laugh, since hes my least favorate player in the MLB
