Alright finally getting back on the winning track lets keep it going tonight with Schill. No reason why we shouldn't be able to take all 3 of these. Lets keep going with the relatively newb mojo!

Game Info:

Date: Friday, August 25th, 2006

First Pitch: 10:05pm EDT

TV: NESN

Starting Pitchers: BOS: RHP Curt Schilling (14-5, 3.84 ERA)

SEA: LHP Jake Woods (3-1, 3.88 ERA)

The Red Sox, fresh off taking two out of three in Anaheim, continue their nine-game West Coast swing at Safeco Field when they begin a three-game series against the Mariners on Friday night.

After losing six in a row, the Sox will try to run their winning streak to three games behind ace Curt Schilling.

"When you're a good team and you get beat up, it takes a little bit to get your rhythm back," said setup man Mike Timlin. "We seem to have a little more rhythm now."

The Sox trail the Yankees by 5 1/2 games in the American League East and the White Sox by four in the Wild Card standings.

Last month, the Red Sox lost two out of three to the Mariners at Safeco Field. They'll try to at least reverse that this time around.

Pitching matchup

BOS: RHP Curt Schilling (14-5, 3.84 ERA)

Once again, Schilling provided the only consistency in Boston's starting rotation. In the biggest game of the season, Schilling allowed three runs and six hits over seven innings against the Yankees, leaving in position for the win before the bullpen blew the lead. Schilling has not picked up a win in his last three starts.

SEA: LHP Jake Woods (3-1, 3.88 ERA)

In his first Major League start, Woods -- who took the place of Joel Pineiro in the rotation -- tamed the Angels on Aug. 20 to the tune of one run on five hits over 5 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out two. Better yet, of the 74 pitches that he threw, 52 were strikes. Woods got a lot of mileage out of his breaking ball and changeup against his former team.

Player to watch

Mariners masher Richie Sexson is 7-for-18 in his career against Schilling with three doubles and a homer.

This is a pretty crappy lineup. Where's Youk? Kapler batting 6th? Manny can't DH and Ortiz play 1B? Good luck to Schilling tonight. He'll need to hurl a shutout to get win#15. Good luck to Ortiz getting a pitch to hit.

Could Hinske be worse against lefties than Kapler?

Lefties are hitting better off the seattle pitcher than righties are. Kapler is a joke at the plate. I'll take my chances with Hinske.

Kapler should be nothing more than a defensive replacement.

Theo needs to take him away from Tito. If he is on the roster it gives tito the opportunity to use a player that is one of the most useless in baseball.

Agent Smith and Jim Rice said that Tito wants t save Hinske to pinch hit off the bench--def a better pinch hitter than kaplar

Just heard on NESN pregame from Agent Smith:

-Beckett's next start prob get's pushed back leaving gabbard to start tuesday

-Clement done for the year

-Tizzle felt bad for a day or so before going to the hospital, but not talking about what the results were

Get well papi

Seattle announcers just said Zito is hitless through 7. I might have to watch his 8th instead of this lineup.

Hendu just said in comparing Crisp to OTH Johnny that Crisp will never be a guy to hit 20 HRs and drive in runs from the leadoff slot.

Edit: And Crisp lives up to the expectations and K's with 2 on base.
