Hopefully it's nothing serious. Never a good thing when you have to stay overnight at a hospital for something related to your heart.

Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz confirmed to the Boston Herald on Thursday that he was hospitalized last weekend for an irregular heartbeat.

Ortiz told the Herald he began experiencing a rapid heartbeat Friday night after the Red Sox were swept by the New York Yankees in a doubleheader at Fenway Park. Although Ortiz played Saturday, the problem persisted and the Red Sox medical staff advised him to visit Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was held overnight for observation.

Ortiz, who is hitting .286 and leads the majors with 46 homers and 120 RBI this season, didn't miss any time during the Yankees series.

my friend had an irregular heart beat so they took him to the hospital and they did some tests and everything was fine except they mistook him for another patient who was in for testicular cancer and they put him under and removed his left nut then realized the mistake and the Doc decided to try and hide the error so he inserted a walnut into his sack and no one was the wiser until my friend got suspicious when he found he was suddenly and attracted to the character on the Planter's Peanut can and he found himself inexplicably cringing and writhing in pain when attending the Nutracker at the Orpheum.

The most impressive thing about your post is that it's a run-on sentence that I was able to follow.

Anyway, like someone said, this happened during the Yankee series, and Ortiz is still ripping the cover off of the ball, so it's nothing to be worried about. Last night when he was playing basketball with that beachball in the dugout also proved that he's back to having fun.

Gotta love Ortiz, even if you're a Yankee fan. And if you don't love him, you have to at least respect the man.

My wife is a emergency room RN and she said, "if it was anything serious they would never have let him walk". They probably ran an EKG on him and kept him till after a Cardiologist and team Doctors had looked at the results. He played a day-night double-header and something as simple as a low potassium level could have easily caused it. Like she said to me: "Papis a big man and my guess would be...stress and dehydration, three quarters of Americas dehydrated and they don't know it, athletes aren't any different.

If it was anything serious they would never have let him walk."

NO s***!! Do You know the difference between Benign and Malignant????

What she was saying was.....That three quarters of ALL Americans are dehydrated

Athletes included. We live in a COKE and PEPSI culture and most people don't drink nearly the amount of water they should. Sorry you thought that was funny.

Yes, and to prove that I know the difference I'll use each them in a sentence.

"Because GhostofMalzone is a malignant personality, I'll treat him with benign neglect.".

2 : tending to produce death or deterioration ; especially : tending to infiltrate, metastasize, and terminate fatally

2 a : showing kindness and gentleness b : FAVORABLE, WHOLESOME

3 a : of a mild type or character that does not threaten health or life; especially : not becoming cancerous b : having no significant effect : HARMLESS

It's not a wonder that most people who talk Red Sox, when asked about this site just laugh and comment about the rudeness of the posters. Yes you people do have a reputation and for a long time I didn't think it was deserved. Guess what? I was wrong and they were right. Live and learn.

Let me get this straight. I make a "benign" comment that most heart arrhythmias are benign. You respond "NO s***" in ALL CAPS and proceed to tell me that I don't know the difference between malignant and benign. That was the sequence of events... right? Somehow you conclude from this that I and in general the posters on this site are rude? Get a grip, bud.

BTW: The term "benign" as I used it in reference to Ortiz medical condition was how my cardiologist described my arrhythmia
