Who is all over him. I just think he is over-hyped. That's all I said. Back to Pedro, what arm problems has he had recently. He has a problematic hip and toe, but when is the last time he had arm problems?

He has not had arm problems since 2001 but his arm is not the same anymore and his velocity has taken a hit from it. He is a pitcher whose arm could go out anytime with the rotator cuff problems he has had.

Five years with no arm problems? It seems that his decline in velocity is natural result of age not injury. My point is at 88 mph, he is still a top pitcher, because of his command and experience. Any pitchers Rotator cuff can go out at any time.

Honestly what do you expect out of a guy that was thrust on the scene due to guys being injured. Did you really expect him to carry this team to October glory in his first season?

No...but as a major league pitcher I expect him to have control. Pitchers in the majors can throw strikes when they have to. Jon Lester can't so it makes me wonder, now that the season is over, he should go down like Hansen and rework some things. Either way it doesn't really matter but he MUST gain control of his pitches.

A lot of talented young pitchers come up and struggle with their control. Its called growing pains.

Yes I understand...Scott Kazmir had that problem among others. I'm just going by what I see and what I see is a pitcher who does not have an "out" pitch so he will need to be a control pitcher.

Jsinger now that I'm thinking about it.....what would you think of Jon Lester somehow turning his cutter into more of a slider?? A little extra movement could make that pitch more of an "out" pitch. Or do you think Lester is set with his pitches.

He should go to a straight out slider. But the cutter can act like a slider similar to the one Pettite has. But I would like to see him try out a slider after the year.
