as far as the yanks go??

please

theyre more f***ed up than we are as far as their pitching goes

theyre 0 for the century in world series and will be bounced in the 1st round again this year

wang is good

mussina is good

the other starters??

ha

Have you lost your mind? Some guy named gaybarr or something just got pounded while our fill in had two solid starts. Don't know what you're watching, because it's not the yankees.

i see

who are the yanks starters that i missed??

if youre comparing your rotation to ours

then you got a point

if youre comparing your rotation to a legit playoff team??

i dont think you got a leg to stand on

jarett wright sucks and wont make the october rotation god willing

for your sake

rj got killed last october, want to see his box score against the angels ??

lidle??

come on this is the american league

mussina is banged up although i love the guy and look for him to be back

even at 75% hes better than most

wang is decent and has been the most consistant of the yankee starters

the bullpen has rivera

innings 6-7-8 are up for grabs

ron villone??korky farnsworth,scott proctor??

i watch the games

i have the luxury of watching them with my own eyes rather than reading what joel sherman or mike vaccaro have to say in the papers

My way of thinking for the pitching staff is that they need to keep Papelbon in the closer's role, he's born into that role and besides theres no big closers out on the free agent market this season. Id like to see a Matsuzaka or Jason Schmidt be acquired to help boost the rotation to back up Schilling & hopefully a rebounding Beckett.

For relief, top of my list is the Blue Jay Justin Speier. Also send Theo a book called "How to find good relief pitching for Dummies"

Its tougher to find starters than relievers thus I think the Sox do the smart thing and move Papelbon to the rotation. 200 innings > 70 innings.

i would have no objections if they started to stretch paple out now but i dont think that'll happen with a month left here.

my feeling is the front office is uncertain,100% confused as to where we go from here

is paple going to the rotation??

is hansen the closer??

can he close, will we move a premier closer to the rotation and create another need??

what of manny dc??

is he the set up guy?

lots of questions

not a lot of offseason help available either

Exactly my point, the 06 free agent list of closers/top set up men pales in comparison to last year's class. A trade maybe? Hansen is not yet near being our closer of the future, MDC is more ready to handle the pressure of MLB late inning games but I see him more as a 7th/8th inning guy. Sox might bite the bullet and resort to keeping Paps as the lights out closer, right now hes the best option to close games for 07.

They should have him close only if they go all out and try for a championship. That means bringing in Zito or Schmidt, signing good arms for the bully, bringing in help for Papi and Manny. If they aren't going to roll the dice and make a run for it, then he shoud start.

i dont want to see zito here

the man cant beat ny...

can you see him after a 3/40M deal and he goes 0-3 against the yanks with an era of 7.00 before the allstar break??

ive pondered about this guy since he won the cy a few years back

i dont think hes worth what it will cost us and that being said

the yanks will be the team he goes to 1st i feel..they can have him

schmidt on the other hand??

now we're talking

being leery of the nl to al move

i dont think this effects the power pitchers as much as the soft serve maddox/glavine types

hed be a nice fit between schilling and becks with a healthy lester and wake rounding out the rotation

that is a good pitching staff my friends and the innings for the bullpen will be dramatically reduced when you got guys who can give you 7 each time out

Crunch

While I agree Schmidt would be a nice addition to any contenders rotation, IMO him and Schilling may be the only two who can consistently go 7+ per game. Beckett hasn't lasted more than 6 innings in a start since July 24th. Now is the time you need the starters going deep to get the bullpen rested for the stretch run.

as of this hour i agree with you mr lite

becks was on his way to a cy young till that friday nite in toronto when he had a 6-2 lead in the 8th inning and drilled the leadoff hitter in response to a sox hitter being drilled

he aint been right since

i saw him lose 2 games last week in person

the detroit game and the debacle against the yanks(9bbs 9earned??)

it was pitiful

i wanted to strangle him and at the same time i wanted to give him a hug because there were 35,000 others who wanted to strangle his ass too

that being said hes got some talent,a rocket for an arm and he competes

all 3 are essential for a power pitcher

what he needs to do is get some command of that breaking ball and learn to change speeds and i feel he'll be good, perhaps great some day

in anaheim he had command of the curve ball

it boston he couldnt hit the monster with it??

how much does he need a veritek or like his succussful days in florida

a pudge rodriguez??

sit his ass next to schilling until he gets bum sores

maybe he'll learn

this isnt clement

there is some hope here

Beckett? Clement? Vazquez? Have you even been paying attention? When did Maddux and Glavine come to the AL and have problems?

And come on, this guy did not forget how to pitch because he hit a guy in the 8th inning of a game in Toronto. He just sucks this year, that's all.

Posted

he was 7-1 with a 3.80 era going into that game pitching almost exclusively against the al east teams...

2 months into the season he wass 7-1 with a 3.80 era??

im sure he didnt forget HOW to pitch

but something happened that evening in toronto and he hasnt been the same guy since

as far as vasquez goes

hes about the norm

1.5 run difference in era between the al and nl....

you didnt mention randy johnson which wouldve been a better analogy

his era is up 4 runs from the nl

schillings has remained the same

clement shouldnt even be in this conversation but since he is,

he did make the allstar team last year and his era was 1.5 runs higher than in the nl when the season ended

beckett i figured would be better served because hes a power pitcher

power pitchers fare better making the move between the leagues historically speaking

see martinez and schilling for better examples

as far as glavine and maddox go

neither wants to pitch in the american league for good reason

they'd get killed without being able to dance around the 8-9 hitters as they can in the nl
