Nice play by Loretta, made it look easy. He's such a bum on defense, designate him for assignment and bring up Pedroia...:rolleyes:

 

Pedroia makes that play in his sleep by the way. He is a very good defensive player and much better than Loretta.

manny does not get enough credit for his arm/defense. good fielding that inning, saved a run. now let's end this in 9.

 

After being at the game in Seattle where Beltre hit the inside the parker which esentially gave them the game, I can tell you that he definitely gets all the credit on defense as he deserves...as little as it may be.

i think the sox by far must have the longest time per game average in the league. i don't think more than about 10 of their games have ended in less than 2:45.

2003 NCAA Defensive Player of the Year. He is excellent up the middle.
He has 5 errors in 102 games. Loretta has 4 in 108. How much better could Pedroia be?

More range, better arm. He gets to more balls then Loretta does. Father Time also won't be kicking his ass.

 

Let him do it in 2007, though.

How many balls does he get to? I couldn't find the stats.

 

BTW: My point is that Loretta is a pretty solid ML second baseman, not that he is a gold glover. He doesn't hurt teams with his defense.

Pedroia gets to about 50 more balls then Loretta does, or creates about 45 more outs. Loretta is a decent player, but is he worth keeping after '06? Probably not.
