Timlin needs to get in a groove' date=' we can't have question marks throughout the bullpen. Be nice to shorten the game a little, but Timlin and even Paps have struggled lately. Just gotta get them under control. The defense will be there, the offense will come back.[/quote']

I wouldnt say that Paps has struggled lately. Even after the game tying HR he served up in Tampa, it was still the first run he allowed since the All-Star Break

Jason Johnson is penciled in for a loss (don't think for a minute you'll ever see another outing like that from him again).
His career winning percentage indicates that he should have a game like that 3 out of every ten starts.:D

I want the East. If we can't finish ahead of the Yankees, then I don't see how this team will survive in the playoffs.
It would be a tremendous consolation to block the Yankees and their $230 million payroll from the playoffs.

Jason Johnson will be opposed by Daniel Cabrera (9.64 career ERA vs Boston), so its a toss-up

'Also, your avatar reminds me of a modern day fairweather "Red Sox fan."'

I used to live in Boston. In fact I'm moving back to go to college @ BC. So I am quite found of Boston sports teams. I just wonder how you get the above comment? But, however, you do bring up some very good points. With the way we are playing I would say that it is do or die! It seems like at the beginnig of the year the Sox were having the same problem; clutch hitting and bullpen.

The backend of the bullpen has been great because of Papelbon. Timlin has struggled of late, but I'm not to worried about him. Delcarmen is having a decent season! But Tavarez and Seanz, give me a break! Have they ever been good? If the Sox get on fire I would watch out!!

Detroit is having a fantastic season and will run away with the central, but the Sox did do well against them this year, so that would be a good series

And as you say this, watch him hit a walkoff homerun.

hahaha, it wouldnt surprise with the way the Sox have played lately. Gathright hitting his first career HR as a walkoff of Jon Papelbon...:(

No, no. That wasn't a shot at you. I was just saying in general, a fairweather Sox fan would have changed their jersey from a Yankees one to a Sox one. It wasn't meant to insult you. Sorry if you took it that way.
