Its his 1st season and now youre saying automatically he's going to be like this for the rest of his career.

Boy talk about putting words in my mouth. Lets do this 1 more time:

His career minor league WHIP suggests that hes not going to be Mike Mussina or Curt Schilling(Which is about as good as it gets in the majors) control wise and by having him up here your not really allowing him to totally focus on his control issues thus not allowing him to reach his full potential. It might take awhile longer for him.

Well I was asking him what he wants the rotation (excluding Wakefield, Clement) to be now since he wants the Sox to send down Lester

Sorry, I know that...I'm just stating how bad things have gone for us this year....that rotation has not been fully together all season.

Right now nothing is working. I wonder if bringing Lester up now and basically having him take his lumps in a pennant chase is the best thing for him. If I were Theo, I'd have a talk with the kid and gauge his feelings. If he looks like he is baffled or shaky, then maybe it is best for the future to send him down. As good as Paps is, Lester has been the jewel of the sox system for a while now and if he blows up, then all those potential deals where he was desired are wasted opportunities.

Send him down now? What is your 5 man rotation until Wakefield comes back in late August/early September?

Schilling

Beckett

Wells (if his knee can hold up)

Johnson

Snyder/Gabbard/Pauley

How is that rotation any bit better without Lester?

What needs to be evaluated is whether the sox are hurting Lester or is he is getting stronger. If Theo's credo is the future is more important, then sacrificing Lester's confidence in a pennant race this year makes no sense after he already decided that this year was a lost cause.

I dont think Lester is ever going to be a guy with great control.

That says to me that you think he's going to be like this forever

BINGO, if your all about the future let Lester develop and reach his full potential for the future.

The man isn't a pussy, maybe he'll actually learn in the middle of a pennant race. We can't baby these kids, there's nothing wrong with having them pitch in games that matter.

Thank you Papi, and congrats on #1000

Actually, that says to me that he won't be a Schilling or a Moose. I don't think he will be this wild forever, but he sure doesnt look like a guy who will be painting corners on a whim.

The year is not a lost cause until the Sox are completely out of the race

Hes not based on his career minor league # however if hes allowed to work on it in the minors he could certainly improve on it as opposed to letting him struggle with it in the majors. That was my point.

Not too mention that we might be ruining his value as a blue chip prospect to be traded for someone like Oswalt.:stop:

True, but when you see your team scuffling in the rotation and you don't even try to make a small addition, then you essentially say that you are going to war with what you have. Even a 3 yr old blind kid can see the sox have rotation issues.

Come on, are you giving up on him now? Let's not trade him and actually let him f***ing play for us. He's going to be a quality major league pitcher, if not a perennial AS.

Thats another thing that got me. Do you guys think that Lester is going to be better then Roy Oswalt? Its not like Oswalt is 35 years old. Oswalt could have helped you guys this year and for many years foward.

Ortiz is trying to put the team on his shoulders again. This team must be getting very heavy for him.

And we thought he was just fat. He actually absorbs the entire team as the game gets on, it is rather impressive.
