Don't know who that is, but Mirabelli is not a bad every day player (temporarily wise). He can hit the long ball and can get on base.

Yeah, you just need a backup catcher to Mirabelli. The problem is, we don't really have major league ready catchers at Portland or Pawtucket. I think there is no way we can call Corky Miller up. We would see the same results that we saw when Shoppach was called up last year (I don't think he got a hit). Pretty much, Miller and the other two catchers for the PawSox can't hit. It's too bad Mark Wagner is at Greenville.

Corky Miller sucks. No doubt about that.

However, someone has to be back there or the ball will simply just roll to the backstop. (Which actually could be a better option then Miller)

I guess I will also add: I think the Sox call up Corky Miller (they don't have much of a choice), but I don't want to see this no name guy for more than one or two games.

EDIT: Sorry, yeah, I understand what you are saying. How experienced is Cora at catcher, by the way?

Alex Cora? He's played 0 innings at catcher in his career.

Craig Wilson if that trade went through today <_>

Oh Christ. Have you ever seen Craig Wilson catch? We'd be better off letting Tito go try and catch himself.

I agree. Its not like we are losing a ton offensively. Tek has not had a great season and Mirabelli struggled with SD with the lack of playing time, and has looked a little more comfortbale lately at the dish.

Heres to a few Belli bombs!

Not sure which Belli you're watching this year, but he has yet to show he can do either this year.

I don't know if the Brewers would be willing to trade Damian Miller, but he is a solid catcher. Caught Curt and Randy during the Diamondbacks championship year in 2001.

That would be great, but is it even possible at this point?

Any more word on Varitek? I heard he was supposed to have an MRI today. BTW on WEEI they said Huckaby is in the clubhouse today so it looks like at the very least a trip to the DL for the Captain.

IMO if its anything more than 2 weeks, they have to start searching the waiver wires for better hitting catchers than the duo of Belli & Huckaby. If so, I wouldnt be surprised to see the Sox try to claim O's Javy Lopez. I heard he has asked team to waive him and theyre likely to go through with that very soon

Thats awful.. How will we ever replace a 230 hitter who loves curves in the dirt, and heat at his eyes.. neither of which he makes contact with.. but he calls great games.

On NESN it was announced that a roster move won’t be made until right before the lineups are exchanged tonight. The news about Tek’s results from the MRI won’t be released until after the game. Weird.

Gordon Edes speculated a veteran pitcher (end of Tavarez or Seanez?) could be DFA'd, or the new guy Bryan Corey could be sent down to Pawtucket
