For years it has bothered me when announcers would comment about Joe Torre that he was such a settling influence on the bench, how he didn't panic, how you can't tell by looking at him if his team is up by 10 or down by 10. I always felt that was media hype and BS. Sure it was easy for him to remain even-keeled. His teams were always stacked and he was always in first place. During the Blue Jays' 3rd inning today, they showed a picture of the Yankee bench. Torre was looking so dejected with is hat on the back of his head. I really didn't need to know the score to know that the Yankees were losing badly. He looked like he had a big steaming pile of s*** under his nose. Oh wait... he did. Sidney Ponson. Between the blubbering crying jags and his dejected demeanor on the bench the last couple of years, I really don't think Torre is such a calming influence.

Thanks for that line. I needed a good laugh.

It must suck being Torre these days. He’s done a good job patching together a team that has had a rash of serious injuries. But to see his team stoked with all of that talent flounder with its pitching woes and A-Rod’s issues must be a real punch in the gut.

regardless of his demeanor, it seems that he has decreased his nose picking which is definitely a positive. I wonder if he went to NPA (Nose Pickers Anonymous).

Admitting you have a nose-picking problem is the first step...and now he seems to be on the road to recovery.

good for him.

Anyone ever notice A-Rod is always touching his nose (especially when things go wrong). Always looks like he wants to pick but he remembers at the last second he is probably on the screen after his error.

Hm, someone explain the episode where Mussina called out A-Rod please. I have not yet heard of this.

I love how the Yankees wanted A-Rod to focus on his hitting yesterday by putting him at DH. He proceeds to go 0-4 with 4 K's

Good ol' A-Rod. Playing DH/3B for the Red Sox, while in a Yankee uniform :)

In trhe post game interview, Mussina was less than supportive of ARod. He said something to the effect that he did not know what was wrong with him, but they needed him to be the way he used to be.

 Nose scrunch. YES.

I don't think Mussina threw Rodriguez under the bus, more like he didn't exactly help him avert it. When asked if A-Rod's error opened the doors or something along those lines, Mussina basically didn't disagree and said he didn't know what was going on but A-Rod needs to step it up. It was said out of frustration, and Mussina definitely showed he's behind A-Rod later.

What I saw on ESPN was that Mussina was asked if ARod's errors effected the outcome of the game, and his response was "Yes."

I didn't see anything more than that.

Get a life and put your obsession/crush for the Yankees to rest. It's absolutely pathetic how jealous one can be.

Not only that, but its also pathetic how stupid one could be. MEdia hype and bs? It's a f***ing observation, not a theory. An observation is something that you see, not something made up. It's true, Joe Torre is virtually emotionless. Now in his 11th season as Yankee manager I can only recall a handful of times where Joe's emotions were very visible. Those instances are so few and far between. To say that his reputation as a calming influence is media hype is absolutely ridiculous; open your f***ing eyes!

We're jealous of the fact that you have the highest paid player in baseball on your team, and he's playing awful? Or are we jealous of the fact that 90% of our fanbase doesn't hate our best player like yours does with your best?

Well, if Torre wasn't upset about getting pounded on Sunday, then he must have been sitting too close to that big steaming pile of s***, Ponson.

As far as your comments about getting a life and accusing me of being obsessed with the Yankees, let me remind you that it is you, a Yankee fan, that is a member of a Red Sox message board. You wouldn't catch me on a Yankee board. So, who is obsessed with whom, you worthless little dickwad?

I know we don't see eye to eye at times, but I couldn't agree more with this post.

There is a difference between an obsession and an interest/curiosity. You post in more Yankee threads than you do Red Sox threads it seems. You're always the first to make note of a Yankee loss with your "Thuuuuuuuuuuuuuh Yankees Lose" posts, and you're constantly focusing on the Yankees. This thread is an example of that. When it comes to me and being on this forum, being obsessed with the Sox has absolutely nothing to do with it. MOST OF THE TIME (I realize not all of the time) when I post in a Sox thread I am complimenting or praising or giving an honest opinion. Whenever a trade rumor arises I always give my honest opinion and analysis as to how it would affect the Sox. I discuss things that I think would make the Sox better, and I discuss things regarding the Sox in general (such as that "Papelbon's Future" thread a few months back) because I am genuinely interested in these things. You, on the other hand get ridiculous. You perfectly fit the character of the stereotypical Yankee fan that is always in everybodys face taunting themn, that you Sox fans always try to make us out to be. That is the reality of the situation, you big f***ing waste of life, good for nothing bum. Instead of claiming to be a Sox fan, why dont you go find a team to fall in love with and root for them because you love them, not because they are the rival of the team you hate.

There is nothing to agree with. All he did was point out an obvious fact, that I visit a Red Sox message board, and throw out a ridiculously childish insult. Nothing more, nothing less. That's all he is capable of doing.

For goodness sakes go back on your meds.

Unlike the obnoxsious Yankee fan, I don't go looking for Yankee fans to insult. They come to Red Sox boards looking for my insults. I think you are obsessed with me. Sicko!

Great comebacks!! Just proves my point.

What's your point, exactly? That he likes when the Yankees lose? That he doesn't like the Yankees?

I fail to see what you're trying to prove.

That he isnt a Red Sox fan, but rather a Yankee hater. That's the point I was trying to make. That and that he is completely incapable of throwing a decent arguement at me using anything but ridiculous insults and stating something that is already well known, that I visit a Sox forum.

700 spends about 80-90% of his time in the Sox related threads. Particularly the game threads and discussions about the rotation. Making the claim that he spends most of his time in the Yankee thread is just flat out wrong.

It amuses me that 26 tries to play the innocent, 'I just want to talk baseball' card. He's said several times that he only came here (and picked his username) to 'set the record straight' and defend the Yankees. That's not just, 'talking baseball', that's taking sides in the rivalry. And the fact that you care so much about what we think or post is a clear indicator that there is some level of obsession about the Sox, or at least Sox fans, in you. More indicative is the username -- we go here a lot don't we? If you aren't obsessed with the Sox, 26, then why the '6' in your name? It really sucks for you that all of your, 'I don't act classlessly like you....' and 'I am not obsessed like you....' arguments go right in the shitter because of your username. Probably should have put a little more thought into that one.

90% of your fanbase does hate our best player:lol:

But how you guys always talk about bandwagon fans......there you go, thats the booers for you, even Rudy Giuliani called them out yesterday, saying their just acting plaine silly.

I guess you got me. I'm not really a Red Sox fan. Traveling to SOx Spring Training every year, going to Philly, Fla, and Baltimore to see away games this year, it's all been a cover. I've been lying to myself all along. Listening to staticky radio stations for years before there was an MLB package and going to Fenway for 39 years was just an excuse for my true passion -- hating the Yankees. Do you realize the ridiculousness of your theory? Your posts would be laughable if the amount of personal animus in the posts wasn't so disturbing.

I never said I was completely innocent. But I dont take it to the level that he does. And like I said before, there is a difference between an obsession and an interest. I am obviously interested in the Sox and their fans, but I dont take it to the outrageous level that he does. And as for the name, it is just that. I dont go into the Sox game threads and do play-by-play taunting and start ridiculous threads bashing the Sox. Whenever I start a Sox related thread it is a genuine discussion. That can't be denied. I take it to the Yankees vs Red Sox level usually only indefense of something that was said. 90% of the time the stuff that you accuse me of doing is provoked in some manner.

Not as laughable as yours.

And as for you not being a Sox fan, that was obviously an exaggeration. I know you're a Sox fan. But sometimes I wonder what's more important to you, the Sox winning or the Yankees losing.

I am not usually someone who lets someone have the last word, but in this case, if this is your final word, you can have it.

No, it isn't provoked. It would be provoked if it were taking place on a Yankee fan message board. On a Sox board, bad things said about the Yankees should be expected. If you can't accept that, then your frustration will never end.

I obviously expect it, but that means that I cant take it as an insult and respond? That means I have to completely let it roll of my shoulders? I dont think so. I dont care where I am, i'll stand up for something that I believe in; and if the Yankees are getting bashed i'll stand up for them.
