Ramirez is a catcher with power potential. He's a B level prospect.

 

The Guardians are dead, and Wickman has no value to them for 2007. The Braves, however, stand just four games back of the wild card. Wickman should help stablize the bullpen.

Good point about the wild card, I forgot, and we all know how valuable a good closer can be, steal by the Braves IMO

Wickman wouldnt have been on the team next year anyway at his age most likely. Plus this just doesnt look to be the Guardians year

I would say that is the case. I didn't believe they would have traded him anyways though but Atlanta believes they are still in it and thats why getting Wickman will help.

Yeah, he's not going anywhere unless the Braves lose 8 games before the trade deadline.

I think this is a brilliant move considering the Braves have McCann, Pena and Saltamacchia in front of this kid. They have nothing to lose and if Wickman pitches like he is capable of, they now have improved their playoff chances

I had trouble understanding this trade till talking it over with my Indian fan friend. The move seems to have been made so they can see if Fausto Carmona is going to be a capable closer, or if they will have to get someone before the start of next season.
