The Red Sox should talk to Cleveland about the availability of Jake Westbrook and Cliff Lee.

Lee won't be available since he is making peanuts and is not eligible for free agency.

Which means he won't be available? How do you know this? Is there something that says a player can only be traded if he is a free agent at the end of the season?

Perhaps the Cleveland Guardians would like to shake things up in there rotation....I deffinitly do not see either Westbrook or Cliff Lee being untouchable players.

Teams do not trade good young starting pitching away when they are under a teams control for multiple years. Westbrook is more likely to be moved than Lee. Oh and if they do move Lee expect Mark Shapiro to hold out for a kings ransom.

....so let me guess....they would want Jon Lester right??

Isn't Cliff Lee 28 years old??

They would start with Jon Lester for either of those guys. They won't get him but Shapiro would still sucker alot of talent out of the sox.

What kind of talent would we be talking about??

Would you be willing to move a Michael Bowden or Clay Buchholz for him? I would and I think both Bowden and Buchholz will be good pitchers in the end....but they will be good later just like the Cleveland Guardians. That team is not ready to win with that pitching staff. I know they have two young guys (Sowers, Miller) plus they still have Sabathia. Perhaps they would like to fill out the rotation with another solid young arm who can contribute for them before they contribute for us.

He didn't exactly suck a lot of talent from us to get 26 year old Coco Crisp. Andy Marte is good but certainly a player the Red Sox could afford to move.

I would trade Buchholz not Bowden. Bowden is getting close to becoming an untouchable in my eyes while I see Buchholz as a good pitcher but more of a #3 guy with Bowden having the the highest potential of any sox pitcher in the minors right now. Cleveland is not the in the position where they have to move these guys. Yes they are having a bad year but the they are a very good team who could easily make a return to the top of the central next year and I just can't see Mark Shapiro trading pitching to get any younger when his team is already young enough and just having a down year.
