I like how MDC was used tonight, coming into the 7th when the game was still close. He’s definitely showing he’s worthy of high lev situations like that.

I'd almost put money on him and Paps each breaking 50 this year. One in Hrs, the other in Saves. Manny could also get to 50 hrs.

Also, now that Tito has started to go to Hansen and MDC later in games, Tavarez has been fairly decent in that mopup role.

9 IP, 2 ER (both on HRs, to Beltran and Cabrera), 6 H, 4BB, 2K.

 

Not terrible by any stretch of the imagination.

Right. He shouldn't have been used there under most circumstances, but Hansen/MDC hads pitched a lot in the FLA series, and it was too early to bring Timlin in.

 

 

If he can eat some innings in "mopup" work, he could be a benefit to the pen.
