i think he is a good player to acquire, but in earlier reports, we also acquired a second round pick with him, this says nothing of it, leaving us with no draft picks

They also included Dickau and Raef LaFrentz in that deal apparently. The Raef part is what makes this deal work, cause they get rid of his huge contract. It's incredible that Portland took it.

Portland cannot get thru a draft day without doing something stupid

by the way, we also picked up Theo Ratliff, who could give us momentary defensive boosts

Great trade, Telfair will turn his career around in Boston and be a great PG, he has weapons he didn't have in Portland, and Telfair has been praising Jefferson. He'll have many assists and is the first pure, pass first point that we've had in a while. Ratliff will be a solid backup center and he will be a valuable trading chip next offseason as his salary will be coming off the books 2 years from now. Unloading Raef's contract was huge and Dickau wasn't going to help in Boston. Unbelievable trade.

Unless there is a trade, there will be a battle between D. West and Telfair for the starting PG job, however I think Doc will realize that Telfair is the best PG out of the two and D. West will be a combo guard off the bench.

LMAO IDIOT.

Telfair better than Delonte?!?

Hahhahahaha, you really suck at life.

If you got the cock out of your face you'd know that Delonte is twice the player that Telfair is.

Telfair lost his f***ing starting job to Steve f***ing Blake. Enough said. Don't come around here with s*** anymore, buddy.

Ok, first of all read my post again b/c obviously you have reading comprehension problems, Telfair is the better POINT GUARD than Delonte. If you watched any of the games last season, it would become obvious to you that Delonte is not a legit NBA point guard, he did a decent job filling the gap but he is not a great point guard and obviously Ainge agrees by acquring Telfair. I think Delonte is a great combo guard and he can be excellent off the bench, his best quality is shooting and that is not what you want in a point guard.

He isnt a good point guard? HAHAHAHAH. If the kid wasnt a good point guard, he wouldnt have started. Delonte is an above average PG. He has excellent floor vision, a high basketball IQ, isnt dumb with the rock, and most of all, he doesnt give a s*** if he gets sportscenter top ten. While I agree he is more of a combo guard, he showed last year that he has some EXCELLENT point guard skills, and honestly, I'd take him over Telfair every time. Like I said, Telfair lost his starting job to f***ing Steve Blake. Delonte is the best PG on this team, and I would be ridiculously surprised if he isn't the starting PG.

i would say that Delonte West should be a 3point shooter more than a point guard, eventually. Telfair still needs to develop his game. All of this could change with another move though. To start the season, Telfair will likely come off of the bench. But I would like to see a lineup go like this eventually

PG Telfair

G West

G/F Pierce

F Gomes

F Jefferson or Green

Theyre not getting Iverson. End of story. That was mostly speculation, and we offered something like Green, Allen, Rondo, Wally, and a first rounder for him, and thankfully they didnt do it.

YH213, Delonte could start the year starting at PG, but I think over time Telfair will finish the year as the starting point guard. I agree with you about AI, while there is a very small chance they could or could have acquired him, the whole thing was really blown out of proportion by the media and fans.

You really must be on crack. Telfair isn't close to as good as your making him sound. Yeah he will be good as a backup, and hopefully real good down the road, but hes still a kid and has a lot of learning and progress to make before one can declare him a better PG than Delonte.

That lineup is horrible, you need a center in there whether it is Perk or Ratliff but you can't win with 2 guards and 3 forwards. I would say

PG Telfair

SG Wally

SF Pierce

PF Jefferson

C Perkins

Bench

PG/SG West

SG Allen

F Gomes

F Green

C Ratliff

Powe, Rondo, Scal, D. Jones and whoever else makes the team gets little minutes, Green will play more minutes as the season progresses.

The Celtics will make a trade before the season starts, most likely including Wally Szczerbiak. Telfair will start at PG and Delonte will be the SG. I'm calling it right now.

If they're going to make a run at AI they better sign Pierce to an extension, or at least make sure he's here for a couple more years. This kind of team cannot and will not be successful if it is just AI and a bunch of kids. Don't get me wrong, having a core of Pierce and Iverson would be EXCELLENT. They need to keep that core, if it even happens, together for a few years, not just 1 year. They could make a serious playoff push if they trade, say, Gerald Green and Al Jefferson and someone else for AI and have a quality supporting cast for the two big guns. Also, the Celtics recently signed guard Allan Ray, flipside of Ray Allen, as an undrafted FA.
