How the f*** is chara the winner for the Norris?

Green should of won with Lidstrom a close second

what a joke

It's pretty funny that you think Mike Green is a better defenseman than Chara or Lidstrom.

Lidstrom and Chara were 1a and 1b, Green's not even in the same ballpark.

The Norris is not "defenseman with the most points". It's best defenseman.

I know its not most points BUT a defenseman that can score is very valuable .

and Green is above average on defense and with his scoring abilities that should put him on top

Lidstrom dosent win all the Norris he has if he only had 20 points total in all the years he's won

and if you're usuing you're theory than Lidstrom should of won hands down

EDIT: look at the past winners , they all could score

you're not winning the Norris if you cant produce offense

The James Norris Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the National Hockey League's top "defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position

that means scoring as well

Yes, but it's like putting Youkilis at short and calling him and MVP candidate because hey, he's a shortstop who can hit.

If your best skills have to compensate for suck in other areas you're not the MVP and you might not even be playing in the right role.

There's no way on God's green earth that you could call Mike Green above average defensively. Not this season anyway.

I already said Lidstrom probably should have won, he and Chara are 1a and 1b.

Green certainly benefits by having playing with Ovechkin, Semin, et al, but he is an amazing offensive "defenseman"...and he tallied his 31G/42A in only 68 games...projected over 80 games that'd be 85 pts from a D-man...very good in today's NHL.

However, and despite his +28 rating, he's not great defensively, often being caught out of position due to his efforts on offense. The very fact that he did NOT win the Norris, tells you how poor he must be in his own end. If he were even "good" in the defensive zone, he'd have won this thing going away.

As for Chara and Lidstrom? Toss up in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I like Marian Hossa and he is an upgrade over Martin Havlat, but a 12-year contract? What the f***! This will bite the Hawks in the ass in a few years, just like Soriano's 8-year contract with the Cubs. Sometimes, you really have to wonder what these GMs are smoking.

Hawks have a flair for the dramatic this year so far. First, there was that epic shootout a few days ago. And today they came back from 0-5 and won in overtime. Biggest comeback in franchise history.

However, until they resolve their goalie situation, they're going nowhere in the playoffs. I don't see it working out with Huet.

Why do you wish you could get into something you hate?

I know the answer to that...

I hate this girl who cut my hair and did a s***** job the other day but she had a serious ass and nice rack and I wish I could get into her.

So it is possible to wish you could get into something you hate.

Well, Hossa's contract is scaled so that he gets his money up front in the beginning of the contract, and the last few years are on a $1mil/$500k basis, IIRC.

With Hossa, Kane, Toews, and Keith locked up the Hawks should have a good core of players for many years to come. Now, just get rid of Campbell and try to hold onto Versteeg and Seabrook. I'd like to keep Sharp as well, but he's expendable. As is Byfuglien.

Courtesy of Dale Tallon. Brian Campbell's contract really hurt. But as I said I like the core of this team, and they'll definitely contend for the Stanley Cup this year.
