I like Crosby and Malkin, but I guess if I had to choose which team to root for, it'd be the Wings even though they put a beating on the Hawks, just because Brett Lebda went to my high school. That and Datsyuk is one of my favorite players.

The wings depth is coming into play here.

Pitts frustration is showing and when detroit tied it in the 2nd you could almost see pitt wither away.

once detroit took the lead Pitt went into the fetal position or ""the assball"" and were essentially saying

""not in the face, please not in the face"".

I wouldve thought on back to back nights that the older team wouldve had a harder time keeping up but again, heres where 4 lines and 6 good defensemen make all the difference.

Exactly, so far the Wings depth trumps the Pitts studs (Crosby/Malkin).

 

An observation on the Wings...they interfere a LOT and don't get called for it. Carolina did the same thing to the Bruins. Pitts dumps and chases, Detroit D-man subtley obstructs the forecheckers path, but it IS interference. IMO this is a substantial issue in this series, I think they are very well drilled on what they can get away with in playoff hockey.

And suck it does for the wings fans..Pitt had 0 2nd period scoring chances and i think they managed 4 shots on net...The 3rd period had been owned by Detroit till last evening and Pitt was staring at an 0-3 series if they lost last night...They came out swinging and stole 1.

Great effort to hang in there but it seems clear to me that Detroit is better and will win this thing in the end.

A great series thats going down to game 7, some beautiful hockey on display.

The problem is Pitt is a small market and a football city. Detroit is broke, humble and has huge problems like the end of the automobile industry in America to deal with along with massive unemployment and the complete destruction of the housing market.

Point being this should be a series that puts hockey back in the national picture but based on early ratings nobody is watching and this is sinful.Gary Bettman needs to take shorter money from a big network rather than taking a bigger cut from the current channel theyre on.

Back to hockey.

I have been touting Detroit since the playoffs started but I ended up betting on Pittsburg because of the way their 2 superstars are playing and also because Lindstrom Datsyuk were supposedly out for Detroit...Lindstrom has played in every game and Datsyuk(sp), their leading scorer is back.

Home ice has ruled this series so far and I am going to stay with my initial prediction. Detroit in 7.

Detroits run ended on their own ice and they went down swinging but theres a new champ now and like edmonton in the mid 80s, pitt maybe around for a while while the wings get older.

Great month of hockey we had and it ended in a game 7 with the game being decided on a last second save by pitts goalie...
