Jim Callis from BA reporting on SOSH Lars Anderson has agreed to sign pending a physical.

Very good news. Now just get Bard signed and this will be a very good draft.

I heard that too. Likely sox said take it or leave to Laporta and moved on to Anderson. Along with the International signings and the draft 2006 has been very good stocking the farm with talent.

Lars Anderson is officially signed and signed for supplemental first round money which is surprising. He is in Fort Myers and was signed 2 weeks ago.

From the Boston Herald today regarding Daniel Bard:

The Sox made no official announcement, but indications last night were that an agreement had been reached with first-round draft choice Daniel Bard, although some details remain to be ironed out. The right-hander, who was the 28th overall selection in the June draft, did not attend the first day of classes yesterday at the University of North Carolina, granting the Sox additional time to negotiate before losing his rights. . . .

It was pretty much only a matter of time before he signed. Overall between the haul the Sox got in this years draft along with the 2 high profile Latin American signings they have beefed up the farm system really well.

That doesn't matter to anyone on this board. a700hitter wants to trade all of them for Bobby Abreu.

Finally they got him signed. I got a little worried about that one.

Personally, with what I've heard/read about this guy I see him as the type of guy who is tradeable in future years. That is opposed to a guy like Bowden who I would be very disappointed to see go. Just my opinion.

It all depends on how they develop Bards secondary pitches. If he develops them he could be a better than Bowden because he throws very hard. But its too early with Bard and he will likely settle into the Greenville rotation next year.

Doesn't Bowden throw pretty hard as well? Papelbon/Lester hard vs. Beckett/Bard hard?

In either case, from everything I've heard Bowden has tremendous complimentary stuff as well, and Bard is a chucker so far. Let's hope they all develop into hall of famers and the sox have a Beckett, Papelbon, Lester, Bowden, Bard rotation in a few years.

Bowden is in the Low to Mid 90's with his fastball but his secondary pitches are alot better than Daniel Bard. Frankly the Sox were lucky to draft Bowden. He should have been a sure 1st round pick but only slipped because scouts came away from one his starts in high school with gun readings in the mid to high 80's. That was due to working with his father the previous day and due to that he slipped to Boston. Lucky us.

I wouldn't count out Clay Buchholz who has been nasty all season.

Me neither. Did you check out the filthy start he had tonight? I recommend you see his line.

I would like to see a lot more than that. It is amazing that, with all the rabid sox fans out there, nobody broadcasts/makes available film of these guys. I would happily pay 20 bucks at the beginning of the season to see more prospects. At least highlights. Cash cow? I think so.
