All the weather sites have rainy clouds now through at least saturday, and the radar shots have green all over the northeast. I'm gonna say...not good.

looks like the northeast is getting bombarded with rain this next few days

This rain is getting annoying---as if we don't have enough games to try and make up and now looks like it may be a few days before we get another game in!

Just announced that tonight’s game has been postponed. I wonder if this will have a ripple effect in that Lester’s assumed start on Saturday won’t happen.

Boston.com--

Tonight's rainout is all but guaranteed to be made up as a doubleheader during the Sox' only remaining visit to Yankee Stadium, Sept. 15-17.

The Sox and Yankees do share three mutual off days (July 27, Aug. 7, and Sept. 7), but team spokesman John Blake said it appears at the moment that a doubleheader will be the route the teams choose.

The Sox play here Friday, Sept. 15, at 7:05 p.m., Saturday Sept. 16 at 1:20 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1:05. Saturday seems the most logical day to play a doubleheader, especially when considering that the Sunday game is a designated ESPN game, meaning the station can decide up until 16 days before the game to move it to 8:05 p.m. and broadcast it, Blake said.

Curt Schilling, who was scheduled to pitch tonight, will pitch tomorrow against Jaret Wright. The Yankees could have skipped Wright to pitch Randy Johnson but did not. Tim Wakefield, who was supposed to start tomorrow against Johnson, will pitch Friday at home vs. Texas.

Josh Beckett remains in line to pitch the nightcap in Saturday's doubleheader vs. Texas. Matt Clement, who was scheduled to pitch Friday, wasn't sure, when asked, when he'll pitch. Nor was David Pauley. Jon Lester was expected to pitch Saturday's matinee but his debut might now be on hold. Francona, leaving the park, wasn't prepared to announce any more of his rotation than Schilling, Wakefield, and Beckett.

we could use an effective Clement and his last outing was encouraging so I wouldn't like to see him miss his start. I know that won't be a popular opinion here but I think he can turn it around

Damn it I went all the way to the Bronx for nothing. And because they will probably resched the game for Sept 15-17 I wont be able to go because I'll be up in Beantown. Just my luck honestly.

I agree. The team needs Clement to pitch effectively. The two kids are not the answer.

Clement cant fill 2 rotation spots, let alone his own spot right now. We need all the help that we can get. Sorry it bursts your bubble that good percentage of the Sox posters here actually see Lester as a good prospect. Pauley might not have all the experience, but unlike Clement, he didnt crap the bed when he had to face the Yankees.

I don't know why all the fuss about the rotation--from the looks of the weath ( www.weather.com) it doesn't look like we will be getting a game in until sunday! There is pretty much a 100% chance of rain tommorow in NY and Fri and Sat in Boston!:(

Why would that burst my bubble. I wish the kid could come up tomorrow and shoot out the lights. I know that he is a good prospect, but he is not ready to be a good major leaguer, which is what is needed for the rotation. Sorry if it bursts your bubble, but the FO that has a lot invested in the kid does not think he is ready for a single start never mind a rotation spot.

Oh right thats why they had the Pawtucket team change up their rotation so Lester could be in line to start one of the DH's against Texas

well i have to agree with one thing tough, 700hitter is right this team needs clement to pitch good if their gonna make it, and unfortinutely it dosent look good so far this year, the reason is you know the FO has alot money invested in him so he is gonna pitch the rest of the season for us cause no one is gonna want him in a trade, and there not gonna sit him with all that money he is making , i hate clement just as anyone right now but he needs to get together quick cause he will be pitching every fifth day

Let's not forget that clement is our #4 starter. We still need a #5 unless Pauley continues his "dominance":D Clement has the stuff and hopefully he can pull it together, but we need him to pull it together so we don't have to rely on 2 unknowns down the stretch! That's a lot of pressure to put on "kids"!

But they are going with Pauley on Sunday, not Lester. That should tell you something about Lester's major league readiness. He may be a star 2 or 3 years down the road, but he ain't ready for the show. If the Sox could move him straight up for Willis, they would have done so already. The Marlins must be asking for the top two maybe three prospects in return for Willis, and they are right to do so. Willis is only 24, already a major league star, and he is cheap. If the roles were reversed and it was the Sox looking to move Willis, I would expect a king's ransom return. The Sox will probably be stuck with a rent-a-pitcher until year-end, and the earlier they make the move the more it will cost.

The Marlins I have heard want a catching prospect, a centerfield prospect, and another top prospect.
