i wouldn't think someone would confess. well he is a hero in a sense that he knew what was right in this situation. where no other player would say this publicly.

Grimsley allegedly told agents that "boatloads" of players use HGH. If the names get realesed that could be almost catastrophic to baseball.

Its only a matter of time untill those names get out.

He's played for a lot of teams. That's a lot of names. Big controversy brewin' here.

Anyone else want to bet that he won't be a D-Back for too long?

Grimsely, implicated others to taking steriods.

This is going to be BIG, if those names get out.

chances are those names will leak out.

In my opinion, this is bigger than the whole Bonds controversy. For the first time, we have names, and lots of them. Grimsley's been in the major leagues for almost 15 years and has played with eight different teams. These won't be just fringe minor leaguers, there will be a good player caught.

On the plus side, baseball's steriod testing policy is a joke. Finally, they'll probably be able to start testing blood samples. They should have done that in the first place.

According to Rotoworld he's been released:

Diamondbacks released RHP Jason Grimsley.

According to ESPN, Grimsley requested the move after having home searched as part of a steroids probe on Tuesday. If that's the case, it would seem likely that the 38-year-old's career is over.

They probably went to Grimsley and said, "Go to jail, or give us 100% cooperation."

Grimsley choose the latter. He didn't give a s*** if he was right, he was concerned with staying out of a federal prison.

It’s unfortunate that MLB takes another hit against its reputation. It’s also unfortunate that Bud Selig and the commissioner’s office didn’t do something years ago to prevent all of this from becoming a public matter. Is there any wonder that interest in baseball among young Americans continues to drop every year?

A couple of cherry-picked observations:

--Grimsley did pitch for the Yankees, a team that comes up time-and-time again with regards to steroid use.

--With the IRS involved in the investigation, this whole thing is taking on a mafia-esque feel with them possibly being the group that exposes the players.

i was wrong he didn't confess. the mlb searched his house and found out he had steroids then later told MLB that he knows players who took it.

thanks goodness this guy came out and said it. Baseballs policy is a joke if players can just take somthing else to get around it. This is the 2nd time selif has messed this up. This is his last chance to fix it once and for all. Im sick of havint to be skeptical of whos using what and so forth.

i really could care less that Grimsley used steroids, it is his claims that so many others did that makes me think , wondering who he is going to rat out

interesting article on mlbtraderumors

Well the hot story right now is obviously Jason Grimsley's naming of names. If you don't feel like reading Grimsley's entire affadavit, just check out page 13. It's one of the more interesting pages, wherein Grimsley states that a certain steroid user was "very obvious and had the worst back acne he'd ever seen."

I decided to do some detective work by Googling various players' names in conjuction with "back acne." (Can you tell I was bored?) Anyway, yes, I did find many Sammy/Barry references, but I also ran into this. It's a surreal, fascinating story about Juan Gonzalez from Jeff Sullivan, and yes, back acne and baby oil make an appearance.

Given the success of that detective work, I proceeded to flip through all of Grimsley's former teammates. I then compiled a list of players who probably did not use steroids, because I figured that would be easier than picking out the ones who did. Here you go:

Mike Maddux

Terry Mulholland

John Kruk

Mickey Morandini

Felix Fermin

Billy Ripken

Randy Velarde (wait, scratch that)

J.T. Snow

Gary DiSarcina

Jim Abbott

Chuck McElroy (the glasses gave him super powers anyway)

Chuck Knoblauch

Joe Girardi

Lance Johnson

Joe Randa

Neifi Perez

Calvin Pickering (couldn't possibly get any bigger)

It's safe to assume that anyone not on this list used steroids.

i dont know about Clemens, but how about Giambi? Theres alot of namse blotched out in that.

Giambi has never played with Grimsley.

I can say with absolute certainty that Jose Canseco is one of those players, maybe Clemens, maybe David Cone? His shoulder was being held together with a pin, it was remarkable how he continued to pitch.

He played for "The Steroid Rings" of Baltimore back in 2005. Could Palmerio or Tejada show up on that list?

One more thing, I guarantee a few of those players come back from the California Angels. He indicated in the affidavit that players from California and players who lived in Mexico were able to commute back and forth to buy performance enhancing drugs.

I'd be willing to bet a number of members of the Guardians in the mid-90s. I'm looking right at you, Albert Belle. Carlos Baerga, Jim Thome, and Paul Sorrento also seem like likely candidates. Eddie Murray, too. Maybe Chili Davis? Mike Sweeney?

Couple players from that 96 Angels team possibly connected..

Garrett Anderson

Tim Salmon

Chili Davis??

Jim Edmonds

Chuck Finley

also...

Dante Bichette

Lance Parrish

Wally Joyner

I'm dead wrong.

They haven't played together, but the two are friends. In the affidavit, Grimsley identifies one of the players as his close friend, and as a former major league ball player.

Who exactly does this implicate? Certaintly not Jason Giambi, but according to sources, Grimsley is close with Chuck Knoblauch. He played with Grimsley in both New York, and Kansas City. Could he be one of the names blacked out under there? He fits the bill of former player, and friend. You could throw the name of Roger Clemens out there. At the time, Clemens was retired, and therefore, a former MLB player.

Also, I can say with certainty that one of those players was a member of the 2003 KC Royals. Page 11 of the affidavit, states that Grimsley flunked a drug test in 2003, and that blacked out name (most likely a teammate) told him of the failed drug test. Infering from that, one can assume that one of those has to be a Royal.

Was sosa or Mcguire ever playing with him?

i dont think either did, but McGwire did play for the A's during the team Grimsley was on the west coast. So its possible McGwire was one of the guys getting it from Mexico.
