I dont see any reason for optimism, Beckett has been good agiasnt week lineups and horrible agianst Good lineups.

I hope lester does a good job on saturday as well! However if we are going anywhere this year beckett needs to pitch well for us. I think the main problem with beckett is that he is too stubborn--he needs to take some advice from nip, shill, ect... becuase he is the kind of guy that says "i've got my own style" ect.... howver he needs to remember that this isn't FLORIDA! mabey getting his ass handed to him is what he needs to listen to some people!

The guy is barely 26, has 661 Ks in 677 innings and a 3.5 career ERA. I see reason for optimism.

Because the Red Sox can score a lot of runs. Moose has been sitting forever so he may be rusty now. It's also only the second inning, not the 6th and the score being 10-4 like it was yesterday.

I agree there is reason for optimism---however that only happens if Beckett get's his head out of his butt and pays attention to the more knowledgeable guys around him. If he keeps this "i can do it myself" mentality then he's in for a lot of short nights!

Right. I'm against all this unwritten rule crap. 3-0 count with a runner in scoring position? Swing away, for the love of god. You're going to get a strike. Man on first and you're up by 5? Steal every base you can! Why give your opponent an unecessary chance?

Oh the defeatism! It's just one game, and its still early. Sometimes it is better to come from behind... let's at least be hopeful.

well watching beckett all year long , its either he sucks bad or he is really good ,no in between

 

 

True, it just seems that his good games are against teams that suck with hitters with no plate dicipline--and then he faces a good linup and gets killed! He has the talent, he just needs to learn to drop his ego some and pitch!

Think Beckett has figured out that it doesn't matter how hard you throw it when it's belt-high over the middle of the plate? He won't be the ace we all want him to be until he drops the "I have the greatest FB ever" attitude. It wouldn't hurt if he developed his 2-seamer and a better change also.

 

Bowa is going to get roasted on talk radio tomorrow. He bitched and moaned at Corey Patterson for swiping 2 bags when the O's had a 6-run lead yesterday, and talk radio already raked him over the coals a bit for that. Now, less than 30 hours later his team does the exact same thing. I hope someone asks him about that post-game. His answer will be the biggest load of justifying BS ever.

Really---he's got a lot of borderline calls, but he's taken advantage. Now he can relax with such a big lead!
