WHo will get called up next?

Hansen

Lester

Pedroia

Choi (i know he is past prospect status, but he is young enough to still have star potential)

Anyone else who is ready to get called up? I am sure there are others.

Personally, I don't think Dave Murphy is ready. He was struggiling in Portland, but still got promoted. Here is how I view things:

Hansen (40 %)

Lester (15 %)

Pedroia (20 %)

Choi (25 %)

I got Lester.

He'll probably start one of the double-headers against the Rangers.

Choi will be up once Snow is gone.

Lester will be soon. In the next month or two.

I think Hansen stays in AAA for the year to work on control problems.

Pedroia would only come up if a middle infielder had to go on the DL.

Lester's next start has been pushed back to Monday. That puts him on normal rest for the Saturday DH vs. Texas. No official announcements about that, but if you put two and two together it seems pretty evident he'll be making his debut then.

hmmmm... i thought i heard that lester wasn't close to coming up "Jon Lester will not be taking David Wells' spot in the rotation; Lester's in finishing school, says Theo Epstein" according to Buster Olneys blog at ESPN.com

Jon Lester is getting a spot start in the Double Header saturday against texas. That is the reason he has been moved to monday in the pawsox rotation.

It's really going to be awesome to see lester pitch. Unfortunately, I will not be able to see his debut, because I don't get NESN. Heck, I could go to a restaurant or something that has T.Vs.

Maybe if it is the Fox Game? I doubt it, but you never know...would he start the day or the night?

haha heres some video some guy took of Lester warming up in the bullpen before a PawSox game this year

Thats really cool....good find.

I'd much rather send Lester out against Texas than the NY Yankees. How about David Pauley...he has to come directly to the majors from AA and make a start in Toronto and a game at Yankee stadium. I'm really hoping the kid can get to 5 innings this time around but I doubt it. The Yanks will know about his pitching style now....unless his control with the curveball comes around I think it will be a 1-2 inning game for him.

``It's in Yankee Stadium, It might not be the best forum for a player to make his major league debut. That's just one of the main factors we take into consideration. Jonathan Lester's at a very crucial part of his development. He's really in finishing school right now. He's getting very close to being ready to help us. But I don't think it will happen by Tuesday."

i think the biggest problem with Lester starting instead of Pauley, is because its in Yankee stadium, more than he isnt ready yet. If Lester pitches well against Texas he might take over that 5th spot from Pauley untill Wells is back.

I really hope your prediction is wrong Natural, I want to see a ballgame!!

It will actually be the battle of the groundballs. David Pauley will pitch against Wang. Whoever has the better control will win that game....quite possible neither one pitches well and its the battle of the bullpens. As long as Pauley can hold his own just long enough for the offense to make a run the Red Sox always have a chance to win.

Lester is coming up for the Texas doubleheader. Hansen is going nowhere unless they do something weird with Paps. Pedroia could come up if Gonzalez goes into a bigger slump than he is always in

Which game is Pauley pitching? Becuase if it is last or first' date=' can't we push him over so someone else goes?[/quote']

Beckett vs Mussina

Pauley vs Wang

Schilling vs Wright

Wakefield vs Johnson

Game 2, which he's scheduled for, is the best bet to put him in.

I just recently saw that the Saturday afternoon game next week will be on FOX' date=' so Jon Lester gets center-stage if he goes.[/quote']

yeah but Id much rather have Don & Jerry be the commentators then the Yankee lover Tim McCarver. If it is so, I'll mute the tv and have WEEI playing on the radio.

I agree. I thought Pauley would only be up for a spot start, then sent right back. But there aren't really any better options for Tuesday right now.

IMO, the Sox FO’s take is that the worse that could happen is that they lose this game with Pauley starting. If you start Lester, the worse case is that you lose and somehow hinder his development. Does this move tells us how little the Sox FO think of Pauley?

No, it doesnt mean they dont care, though they may be babying Lester more. But that start was meant for Pauley because everything worked out, the 40 man roster, the same scheduled start, just everything fit.
