I'm just making this. I don't care. The disturbed mojo took out Wells probably for the rest of the season, and now we're right back to a lack of a number 5 starter. I'm starting this game thread. Schill goes for win number 200 tonight. Go Sox!

Schilling aims for 200th career win

Tampa Bay (21-28) at Boston (28-18) 7:05 pm EDT

BOSTON (Ticker) -- Of the 103 pitchers with 200 career victories, only three have reached the milestone while wearing a Boston Red Sox uniform.

Curt Schilling tries to become the newest member of that exclusive club Saturday when the Red Sox host the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the third contest of a four-game series.

A six-time All-Star, Schilling (7-2, 3.80 ERA) can join Luis Tiant and Hall of Famers Lefty Grove and Ferguson Jenkins as hurlers who won their 200th game while playing for Boston. He also needs 10 strikeouts to reach 2,900.

Schilling has won three of his four starts in May, including Monday's victory over the New York Yankees. He gave up one run and five hits in eight innings without issuing a walk.

David Ortiz tied a season high with four RBI and Mike Lowell added a two-run homer - his first at Fenway Park this year - to lead the Red Sox to an 8-4 win on Friday.

The Devil Rays counter with Seth McClung (2-5, 5.72), who is 1-3 with an 8.80 ERA against Boston. He surrendered six runs and six hits in seven innings of Monday's loss to Toronto.

Manny isn't in the lineup tonight. Youks is in LF.

As for Youkilis, it turns out the Sox worked him out in left field more than a week ago, and Francona is satisfied that he’s up to the assignment. Francona said he had been planning on giving Ramirez a rest at some point anyway, but Manny’s phone call to the skipper this morning, with news of the stiff back, put in motion a lineup card featuring Youkilis in left field.

I guess against a man who has struggled so much against the Sox that we can afford to take Manny's bat out of the lineup tonight. I'm assuming Snow'll be at first then.

Youk, Loretta, Ortiz, Nixon, Varitek, Lowell, Pena, Snow, Gonzalez?

Nice job shill starting the gamethread---we don't need anymore bad mojo and shill taking a liner tonight:angry: Anyway should be a great game, and interesting having Youk in left field---is there anything this guy can't do?

It would be great to see shill throw a no-hitter for his 200th win! Let's McClung the rays tonight:lol:

Youk, Loretta, Ortiz, Nixon, Varitek, Lowell, Pena, Snow, Gonzalez?

Lowell, being the 3rd best power hitter of the roster, should bat behind Ortiz.

1. Youk LF

2. Loretta 2B

3. Ortiz DH

4. Lowell 3B

5. Nixon RF

6. Varitek C

7. Pena RF

8. Snow 1B

9. Gonzalez SS

From Buckley's column in the Hearld (that I linked above) he has this:

Tonight’s Red Sox lineup, then, looks like this:

Kevin Youkilis – 7

Mark Loretta – 4

David Ortiz – The hitter

Trot Nixon — 9

Jason Varitek – 2

Mike Lowell – 5

J.T. Snow — 3

Wily Mo Pena – 8

Alex Cora – 6

Tonight's lineup:

LF Youkilis, Kevin

2B Loretta, Mark

DH Ortiz, David

RF Nixon, Trot

C Varitek, Jason

3B Lowell, Mike

1B Snow, JT

CF Pena, Wily Mo

SS Cora, Alex

I'd like to see red hot Mike Lowell batting 4th or 5th, not Tek.

Friggin Willie Harris is not great in center. That's 2 very catchable balls (hard but catchable) that he missed in the last couple games. That one went off the heel of his glove----it will be nice to get coco back!
