id like to see a straight out platoon in RF. Every other day, WMP plays and Trot sits, untill one of them is playing well enough to be the clear starter. Im not a big fan of having WMP only hit against lefties, since hes hitting .190 against lefties. hes hitting .409 against righties.

He came to Boston with the rep of being a lefty masher, though.

I think a straight-out platoon (with days off for Manny, Ortiz, Coco etc. considered) is a great idea.

Why do people think that trot isn't playing well? He has been one of our most consistant hitters thus far and plays a much better RF than WMP. Has everyone forgotten how "good" WMP plays RF?

He's got what, 3 homers?

Can you tell me the last time he got a big hit?

He's been a very solid #7 and 8 hitter. You are not going to see too many pitches with hitters behind you hitting less than .200.

Oh agreed, I'm not knocking Trot.

It just seems he's having the quietest .300 season in recent memory, that's all.

Perfect example of why you don't panic and trade young left-handed starters.

The Mets were stupid to believe they were even in the race the year they traded kazmir for a sack of s***

i love Trot, but hes contract is up next year and is most likely not going to be back with WMP. Trade him while he's still healthy and producing for a SP. Thats what i would do with him.

Willy Mo so far this season has played better than Trot.

Trot--40 games, .300 avg, 3 HR, .424 obp (which is great), .434 slg, .855 ops

WMP--35 games, .324 avg, 4 HR, .375 obp, .491 slg, .865 ops

id rather WMP hitting behind Manny than Trot. I think he could do some damage in the 5th or 6th spot

well, that shows why Wily Mo needs to play every other day at least, ever since they sat him he has lost rhythm, he has struck out 3 times in 8 at bats and gotten 2 hits in those at bats

They sat him because he was battling a sore wrist, nothing more

Ok so we trade Trot for a starting pitcher?

Then we will have starting pitchers:

Curt Schilling, Josh Beckett, David Wells, Tim Wakefield, Matt Clement, and ??

Theres also Roger & Jon Lester in the mix... I just dont see Sox trading him for a starting pitcher, or even trading him at all

if we dont get Roger, who knows how Wells will hold up and no one seems to want Lester up in the majors this year, we need another starter. Clement needs to go.

I love WMP, and he is the future here. However Trot is playing great this year and plays a much better RF. WMP is a replacement/platoon guy this year!

who said no one wants Lester up here, besides A700? Good number of members on here, Boston Globe, and boston herald are all talking about high likelihood of him making his debut this season. Let alone, this month has him tearing it up in Triple A after being held to limited pitch counts that made his stats skewed

i seriously hope he ends up getting a start in the pros some time soon. I think hes ready, but who knows.

I think Lester should actually be the next pitcher called up. A lefty is exactly what the Sox need. We need to give him Major league training, even if it is in the bullpen
