Rangers visit Red Sox in showdown of division leaders

Texas (18-17) at Boston (21-13) 7:05 pm EDT

BOSTON (Ticker) -- Despite five losses in six games and being just one game above .500, the Texas Rangers are still in first place in the American League West Division.

The Rangers try to overcome their recent struggles Friday when they face the Boston Red Sox in a weekend series featuring a clash of division leaders.

Texas surrendered 23 runs in dropping two of three against the Minnesota Twins, including Wednesday's 4-3 defeat. Mark DeRosa went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs for the Rangers.

Kameron Loe (1-3, 4.76 ERA) looks for some revenge after losing to the Red Sox on April 5. In his most recent outing, he gave up five runs and five hits in five innings of Saturday's defeat to the New York Yankees.

The Red Sox counter with Matt Clement (3-2, 5.35), who is 3-0 with a 3.18 ERA in six career starts against Texas. He yielded one run and two hits in six innings on May 4 in a victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Mark Loretta had four hits and drove in three runs and Boston collected 13 hits to take their three-game series over the Yankees with Thursday's 5-3 triumph.

Because CNN's picture works with the size of the "TalkSox Baseball" thing. CNN doesn't have a picture of Kameron Loe on their site, so I just used the picture from redsox.com that they have.

Clement wasn't happy about getting pushed back, so let's hope he can put that frustration into Texas. That is of course if we get the game in because it's not looking good. 90% - 100% after 7 tonight:(

The forecast sucks for the whole weekend. I don't know if i could take multiple games rained out. stupid rain...
Posted
Depending on how many games get rained out this weekend they will be made up on the weekend of June 9th-11th when Texas makes their final trip to Fenway for the season.
Posted
Wow, worst case scenerio is they may have to do 3 doubleheaders back to back to back! Would they even do that if all this weekend was rained out?

There is an offday for the Red Sox on June 12th. I don't know if the Rangers have the day off but if they do then a makeup game could be played on that day.

Clement has had some success against Texas, that might help fuel a good start by him after he obvsiously seemed P.O'd about being the one pushed back.

MLB has to stop taking so many mondays off... or make mondays off mandatory for every team... so any rainouts can be made up on mondays... maybe Im nuts...

Cue the Bandangles...

I read that the sky is going to open up around 9pm. That could be good enough for 5 or 6. You know everyone wants to get this game official so you know the umps will have a generous strike zone. That should help Clement.

so, hopefully, we can get this one in fast, because apparently tomorrows game is almost definitely not happening. and if we rain out 2 straight games, this creates a problem, especially with a team not in our division.
