I second that. He has read a chlamydia pamphlet before, does that count?

I have taken an elective Medicines & Diseases class in my school for two marking periods.

And, you, Rivernator, don't you dare talk to me about anything having to do with intelligence.

I think there's a good possiblity the Red Sox will win tomorrow. It's hard to forget what the Sox did to Chacon last year, but this is a different team he'll be facing. And Wakefield is always a question mark versus the Yankees. Oh well, should be another good game.

My wife is a nurse and she thinks it's a joke. I'm actually surprised you like it. Hollywood always takes a shitload of liberty with how things go in real life, and it usually makes an informed viewer disinterested. For example, I was in the Marines, and I find most military movies to be very poorly done. Of course, there are a few shining examples of it being done right. A Few Good Men, Full Metal Jacket, and Jarhead do a good job of catching some of the Marine experience, but that is only 3 of hundreds of movies with Marines in them.

Most of the things that are flat out wrong with the show, most nurses are not able to pick out. I am not being an ******* here, I have talked with many nurses at the hospital who love the show. But, the things that they do wrong are mostly with treatments and procedures, which most urses are not trained in. For example, an internist wont do IR work. Naegleria Fowleri, which Foreman, had is fatal once the patient shows neurologic signs. Also, erdheim chester only has corticosteroids as a treatment, yet all patients die rapidly and cannot be salvaged for the most part. They had already tried steroids and it failed. It made no sense....

Riv is a med school student (I believe). I find it laughable that you can compare your knowledge of medicine, obtained through a High School elective class, to Riv's.

We better win tomorrow!

Like him or not, Riv does have some intelligence. That said, he demonstrates some ignorance too. I think it is mainly due to his age. He makes absolute statements on limited amounts of data, which is part of the impetus of youth. And, he allows his bias to enter his analysis, but that is something that just about every fan is guilty of.

Here's my advice. Allow him to spout off with something that will eventually result in a foot in mouth situation, and then call him on it. It won't take long, just have a little patience.

hey numbnuts, I am less than a yr from being a doctor. Your 2 classes on medicine in high school do not qualify you on the medical front, although keep it up. It is a great field...

I am young. The folly of youth is not lack of intelligence.....

Way to make assumptions!

I never said once that I can compare my medical knowledge to that of Rivernator's, yet I said that I did have a fairly good sense of different medicines from that class. Why would I do that? I do not know Rivernator, and no offense to him/her/it, I do not want to know another Yankee fan. I am not going to assume Rivernator has a certain level of medical knowledge.

Besides, what the f*** does this have to do with anything?

Don't sell nurses short. They are on the job and observe what's going on. Just because they didn't go to Med-School doesn't mean they can't be aware of the things you are talking about. My wife doesn't like the show because of exactly the things you say are wrong with it. And, she doesn't like most doctors because they take the same attitude you do.

you can see the difference in training between docs and nurses and I think the whole problem with Docs vs Nurses starts with med school. Nurses can take care of daily needs better than anyone, BAR NONE. A good nurse is worth her weight in gold. But, for the most part, nurses are not taught in depth pathology, in depth pharmacology, or in depth microbiology. But they can tell you which dressing at what time of day works best on these types of wounds and how often a patient needs to be turned and which side, etc. Also, nurses have become very good triagers, making doctors jobs easier.

Also, nurses and docs start the adversity in med school. Nurses assume that med students dont know anything, but you realize that you know more about diagnosis and treatment then they do, for the most part from day 1. (depends on whether they are an NP though, as they are basically docs). They treat you like dirt as a med student, then everything drastically changes when you get the degree. It is a power thing for the nurses and most docs get the same way once they graduate.

Okay, you have not watched the show. If you dont have medical knowledge (and you dont) then you dont understand 3/4 of the s*** that they do. The show does not do a good job of explaining any of the tests or treatments used. Most laypeople will have no clue what they are doing and hence they lose people easily.

A good Dr. is hard to find. I hope you become one of the few Rivernator, because I have little faith in most of them. I believe in science and medicine btw, I just don't trust that many Docs.

Tough one to swallow. Then again any loss to the Yankees is a tough one to take. I think it's because I dislike the Yankees so much. Typical Ortiz is still slugging out HR like crazy but that's just Big papi. Can't wait until tmrw's game Sportsnet up here is actually showing this one so I get to watch it on tv for once instead of my computer which will be nice. Got the Knuckleballer on the mound hope he can bounce back and return to last year's form.

Wake vs Chacon tommorow, the Red Sox should win this game. They should have won tonight's game as well.

The bottom of the order was lacking last night, 5-9 was just 1 for 19. That 1 hit coming from Lowell's HR. I was sure that Tito wouldve gone with Mirabelli over Varitek.

vs Mussina

Mirabelli- 4 for 11, 2 HRs

Varitek- 5 for 47, all singles

you dont replace your captain just because he struggles against one particular pitcher. Also, if he wanted that, then he should have swapped wake and schill in the rotation.

true, but tito added to the destruction by putting harris in center. the bottom of our order were a sure thing for mussina all night long. Everytime we got him out of his game the bottom of our order put him back in the groove!

Mussina was pretty good last night after the first 2 innings. As bad a move as Harris in CF was, would it have been a 4 run difference? How about having Belli instead of Tek? Likely not. Muss was dealing after the second and our pen shined. Regardless, yesterdays game fell on the shoulders of Schilling and the fact that he couldnt keep a yankee lineup (missing its most clutch bat) in the ballpark....

BTW, with a curveball pitcher throwing for us, does that mean that Wily Mo gets another day off? If so, you'd be looking at a 7-9 of Belli, Mohr/Harris, and Gonzalez. I'd like that....

After Harris' performance last night, I don't think WMP sits two days in a row. Besides, the pitch that notoriously gets Pena out is the down and away slider from a RHP. Chacon's curve is more 12-6, and he'll have to throw it for strikes if his spotty command of his FB continues. If he leaves one higher than the bottom of the zone, WMP will probably put it in Monument Park.

ARod is a what he is and that is a fraud.

Go ahead and eventual game winning hit last night, cannot dispute that. He'll wake up, and I think last night was the icebreaker....

He's still a fraud though. He will get his numbers during the year and choke it away when it matters!

Hey, tell Red Light thanks for waking up the slumbering ARod. If he gets hot, watch out...

No sweat. It was awful nice of Moose to let his soft-toss junk get Papi in a groove. He's every bit as dangerous as Slappy, with the only difference being he's deadly late in the game and he kills the Yankees.
